This was simply one of the best finals matches I have seen in a long time! It had everything. Mystery penalties, winning short on bodies, comebacks, new sponsors being put to the test, battles against former teammates, one on ones, underdogs triumphing and simply one of the best moves in a crucial game seen in years!
Despite a solid preliminary performance, Alex Fraige, the captain of San Diego Dynasty, did not dress out for the final game choosing to place his faith completely in the hands of his other players. This would also be Dalton Vanderbyl's first tournament facing Dynasty since defecting to Edmonton Impact in the off season.
San Diego Dynasty took an early lead 3 to 1 against Edmonton Impact with the setting sun seeming to make a remarkable difference on who won each of the early points. Justin "Jrab" Rabackoff of Impact pulled off a crucial one on one to bring the game within one point. Impact tied it up with less than 50 seconds left but a red flag was thrown on Dynasty. After a long ref conference, Dynasty had to play a man short but Alex "Arod" Rodriguez made a fantastic run through in one of the fastest points of the event and hit the buzzer with 28 seconds left. Dynasty held off the final Edmonton Impact charge to win the event!
Give it up for Arod for the MVP and the move of the tournament for the winning point.
This was Dynasty's first event with their new Field One markers and without Oliver Lang.
