Exclamation Xfactor win the first NXL event of the year - Winter Classic

The National Xball League (NXL) held their first tournament of the year this weekend in Kissimmee, Florida: the Winter Classic. San Antonio Xfactor had some hiccups in the prelims but managed to pull it together for the finals and win the event. The Combine All Stars took second, San Diego Dynasty took third and Houston Heat (playing as the Montgomery Mallards) took 4th.

This was not a traditional Xball event. The Winter Classic was 5-man where teams played prelim games against upper and lower division teams. There were no league points from winning this event.

San Antonio Xfactor won the NXL's first Winter Classic this weekend.

Combine All Stars took second:

From left to right: Keith Brown and Justin "J-Rab" Rabackoff both of Edmonton Impact, Nick Slowiak formerly of Upton 187 cRew, Greg Siewers and Scott Kemp from the both from the LA Ironmen

Dynasty took 3rd.

Houston Heat (playing as the Montgomery Mallards) took 4th

In the prelims, teams did not play just against their own division. This opened up the opportunity for upsets, blowouts and hurt feelings. Just how paintball should be.

Well, this Alex Caldwell's D4 team faced off against Xfactor in the prelims. They shot two Xfactor guys quickly. Then Xfactor brought it back and then ahead to a 2 against 1. Colt and Grayson (pictured above) against Alex Caldwell (the player in the middle). Alex beat them both in a 2 on 1 to win the game and upset Xfactor. The Xfactor pros were good enough to get this picture with him before the weekend was over.

This is the kind of thing we've lost in paintball. Going to a national event and getting to go toe to toe against some of the best pro players and teams in the world used to be a regular thing. I am glad to see the NXL bringing it back.

Yes but points didn't count to the overall year points for the nxl ,it's more a just for fun and warm up tournament for the gear but cash prizes still

They had a few live facebook streams from various people over the weekend but I dont think it would have been very cost effective to get a full crew out there. Although they did have a small setup for the Ironmen practice a few weeks ago with Slowiak commentating so the potential was there. But for the most part the matches ranged from d5 up to pros playing against each other so I can't really see that many people being interested in one minute points.

Hosted by Boston Paintball in which case we had had two snowstorms past 4 days along with taking after the "Winter Classic" from the NHL hence the jerseys that they make custom represent NHL jerseys.

In case people didn't know but glad to see everyone in shorts while we are up here in North Face jackets shoveling out white ****. Lovely....wish I was down there but I'm wondering how the staff will fly back up here with delays most likely....oh well. Good for everyone heading to FL

It was more of a dig on the absurd weather this year, than the event location.
So let me see if I understand this correctly. Boston has snow right now and is cold, but they're hosting an event that's not in Boston? I figured that, like the Midwest, that area was experiencing really nice weather this weekend.

Great event. Nice job and congratulations to all the teams. Tom and the NXL selected a great venue and ran a super smooth event.

Ya they host the annual Boston Combine and then they paired up with the NXL to bring the combine along with other games.

Nice to see these guys' work paying off. Hats off to X-factor. I would love to see the kind of damage the combine guys would have done with some time to build chemistry... even though this event is just to get the blood pumping for the season

Who's the other guys on the allstars? I recognize Greg Siewers, and the guy on Nick's right wearing the Friendly Fire Factory jersey is a 187 guy I presume.
