Can't wait to see what they have to offer! We'll probably order a few of them.

I can't believe you guys don't know what it is.

It is a bore kit for the 250 cal. Empire started it but they only made an axe to shoot 250 cal balls. Now more companies are investing in it.

As a paintball player, you should be trying to grow the sport. If there is ever an opportunity to help your local field, you should try your best to help.

I agree. An 8" control bore (give or take, I'm not that picky), with bore sizes going a few more steps smaller and I'll be quite happy. Keep the same threading for the tips so us old timers can keep using parts from our collections. Ideally have the insert captured with a small lip on the breech, locked in between the front and back. That would make the barrel a bit more Tippmann friendly and work well with some very old school pumps.

Maybe even throw out a limited edition "legacy" threaded back from time to time (ICD, Angel, etc.) and I'd be collecting them like pokemon.

That actually never bugged me that much. I didn't really care what they were labeled, as long as they were different in size. They could have just labeled them "A", "B", "C", etc and as long as A was smaller than B, and B was smaller than C, I would have been happy.

They're barrels, not measuring tools.

I hope they are 7 inch bores. That way we could have 7inch backs and 7inch tips to maintain a 14 inch barrel.

15 inch barrels just feel off to me personally.

if they do actually have a longer control back insert, your old tips would turn it into a 17-20+ inch barrel. That's not something that I think anyone wants.

I have a few 12 inch tip that would be just fine...

Plus, I have used a freak kit for years with no complaints. The improvement will be marginal to the point that I won't be wasting my money on one.

Longer control bores will work nicely with the new DW barrels that I'm sure will follow.

The tips in my collection currently make 10", 12", and 14" barrels. The 10" is really only comfortable for me on rather long bodied guns (Tippmanns generally). Using that tip with a longer back would be perfectly acceptable to me.

Plus, if the tips are compatible then all the players with old style Freaks will have more options for short barrels again using new tips. Gives them a chance to sell new parts to people with old barrels who aren't looking to replace their whole kit.

Paintball News Rules
  1. No Upping threads. If you have something to say, please do, but don't post in the thread just to take it to the top of the forum.
  2. Do not post "1st post", "1st", "First post" or anything similar (or with any other number) at any point in a thread, even if you post a comment too. It is really annoying and it will result in a ban.
  3. If you don't like something, say why instead of just calling it ugly, lame, gay or any other name. If it is old, simply post a link or report the post with a link to the older News thread.
  4. Please don't post links for places to buy items. That encourages stores, sponsored players and other people to do it and spam the site.
