Model 98 Custom w/ Milling/Body Mods

Just thought i'd share what i'm doing. Dug this out of storage last week to get back into the sport. I'd been rocking it with a bunch of scratches and crappy paint touch-ups and stickers back when i played in high school. I have to see if I can find a photo of it before I began this work

Specs/Setup before mods:
Model 98 Custom (year 2000-ish era)
Response Trigger
Pro-Team Products Hyperstar front bolt
Full Boar rear cocking system
Psycho Ballistics Uni Drop Forward
GTA Double Trigger
GTA Vertical Adapter / Expansion Chamber
32 Degrees Raised Sight Rail
DYE Sticky Grips
DYE 18” Boomstick
Pro-Team Products Pro-Feed/Power Feed
9v Revy
Running on CO2

Now i'd like something more unique. So i'm doing a complete re-boot of the marker.

Just ordered for the new setup:
Lapco 8” APEX ready Big Shot
68/4500 Ninja CF Tank
Also going to covert to macro line

Tore it down and started removing the paint. Also polished the internals up nice

i used a 4 1/2" angle grinder with a flap wheel for most of it haha. I'm used to hacking up steel for my jeep so modifying something this small is nothing. My dremel did come out for some of the finishing detail work though.

I threw some JB Weld in to fill the cocking slot before i left for work this morning so i should have that done later tonight. Then some fine sanding to smooth it out and wet sanding before paint. Picked up a dark blue color paint i think will look killer with black accents

filled in the cocking slot, single trigger guard hole, and the hole in the bottom front of the grip frame. Also ground a bit more off the body right behind the grip to get the lines to flow better.

Sanded the entire marker with 150 grit, and hit it with a few coats of self-etching primer.

wet sanding and hopefully should have color on it tonight!

Awesome progress. It's good to see someone that understands that modding a 98 Custom doesn't just mean bolting on aesthetic parts. I have milled receivers that I started working on a few years ago but haven't finished. I milled a centered and top-cocking and took off a bunch of material off of the receivers. I am trying to figure out how to create my own folding stock, front grip(that the folding stock will latch to when folded under), and a spring feed magazine. Your thread has kind of gotten me fired up to go finish it up.

Oh hey...people care. Nice!

The marker is essentially done. I need to pick up some macroline and fittings to replace the braided gas line but that's about it. I'm happy with how it turned out - although i need to touch up some spots where the paint got messed up. Color is Valspar Indigo Cloth

Pics with the new HPA tank and short Lapco barrel, as well has my massive boomstick from before

came out nicely, i love the old school vibe. so the idea of the power feed is to prevent blowback from effecting the hopper, right?

Thanks, and yes it's there to prevent blowback. Although the feature i like most is the on/off feed plug so I can load the hopper but turn off the paint if I want to - comes in very handy if I need to take the barrel off to clean it. Plus once the elbow is on it centers the hopper above the marker to keep it balanced.

That looks great. How high does the hopper stick up with the powerfeed? I've been thinking of picking up one for my girlfriend's 98.

there's a standard 45* elbow that I use with the powerfeed, so about 1" higher than the stock elbow i guess?

Looking good! I've decided to trick out a 98 Custom I have laying around. Not sure if I want to go the traditional 98 body route (no custom body work so it truly resembles a 98), or doing something like what you've done.
