i would honestly get in iPod. I know they are exspenive, but if you save up for one you wont be mad.

-they hold well over your stated 1,000 songs
-lifetime warranty, no questions asked. I have seen iPods replaced within seconds of walking into a Mac store.
-sound quality is great
-they are also hard drives, adress book, and other cool things.

Save up for one and i promise you'll love it. never met anyone who hasnt.

eh, would advise against that unless it comes with a warrenty

take the advice from an iPod owner: get the two year warrenty.....i've had mine replaced once already....no questions asked, get the warrenty

Creative Nomads are the best. They're $200, hold 10 GB, and arent made by Mac. YAY!

Thats a funny comment. The iPods come now with FREE iTunes software for PC and Mac, so even if you dont support Mac, you can use everything for an iPod on a PC.

iPods also come in 15, 30 and 40 GB. 10 GB is so inferior, they dont even make them anymore for regular iPods.

NM, the Jukebox Zen Extra is 30, 40, and 60 GB now, and it's still only $250-$375. I haven't looked at MP3 players for a long time.

plus, with iTunes that comes free with the iPod, you can upload your entire CD collection onto your computer. Then, i think it takes something like 10 minutes to transfer over 100 albums onto an iPod.

Itunes also allows you to edit the name of the song and the date at a registry level. so when you open in in WMP it will have the correct title CD and track name.

You can do that with any Harddrive MP3 player, its actually a peice of ****; the interface is terrible. But it has a mic, so its all worth it. In the MP3 player field you get what you pay for.

Ipods are not worth the extra $200 or so bucks for the same amount of space a Nomad Zen NX will get you, I've had mine for almost a year and I love this thing. I've got like 800 songs on it right now and I've still got 16gigs free, the 20 gig ones are running about $200 right now while the 30 gigs are about $250.
