Hi
I am located in Ole Fayetteville, NC about 45 mins from you, been playing Recball and just started playing Speedball, but most interested in HYperball.
Currently I am checking out the local NC action as I would like to go to a couple of Tourneys. I do not have the gun yet for Hyperball, but will soon. We have a small team of 5, but we where looking at 3 man team play and Co-ed play. Do you know of any airsmith in the local area, as I getting a Sterling and would like to make it semi, I love the gun.

Hmm I palyed their 2 sundays ago, I had a good time, but the fields need alot of work, but the people where real good! They ran out of Co2, or made the mistake of putting HPA in the Co2 tank, I played 3 games that I ran out of air in less then a hopper, so I am not a happy camper. But the are building a new field in Springlake, another one in Sanford and just finished one in Reaford. With The Army here we have a large paint program here. I have seen games of 40 plus people. Good thing is really the staff, I was impressed. They hepled the new people out alot. I had 2 newbies under me most of the Time. They had a good time, we did real well.

Interesting, I might have to check out this fayetteville field next weekend. I am heading to Bragg for some training and will be there over the weekend. What I really need to know is how is there pro shop. I am in the market for a new HPA tank and really couldn't tell what they have in stock, or if I really would want to buy it from them.

If anybody can stear me to a good HPA system in that area let me know. I noticed that there are several other stores within 1 1/2 hour drive. Personal experence with local store would be apreceated, but any info is fine.

I think that FON does a pretty good job. I played there today, i usually play every weekend there, when i am at my moms house in the summer, or in spring break. Yeah it is fun playing with "their" team (i dunno if it is the store's team or whatever, but they help out with the store and the field so im guessing). Yeah there is a lot of fire power out there with some decent guys, but man, when all of these Army guys roll in (they almost always come together, in like a big convoy of cars at about 12:30ish almost every time, with at least 10 guys) Some of them think that they are better and all, since of army training and stuff, but they're not. But i guess its better than having 11 year old girls coming to play with their over protective mothers biting their finger nails, and the girls trying to work the guns or something, lol. Their fields do need a lot of work, especially their bases, the Capital the most part. Their speedball course needs to be swept or something, it is covered with damned pine needles and they hide like 100 paintball that somebody dropped, then u slide into a bunker and... *CRACK* *SPLAT* $HIT!!!! U slide right into 50 paintballs on the ground, lol. Anywho. It is alright.

On the hole, I would say that it is on average with other fields I have been to. There are things that I think could be done better and there are things that they do very well. There are two major things that I saw that I didn't care for much. One was the paint, it shot well and straight but didn't break. I can't even count the number of bounces that I had on me and after talking to some of the other players, it wasn't just me that noticed this. I know why they use this type of paint, it is basicly the same reason other fields use this type of hard paint, to prevent breaks in the rentals. The plus side is you can by better at there pro shop but I tend to like to get my paint at the field. The second thing I noticed was that the field boundries are not marked. This can be, and was a problem in one of the games for each team was trying to out flank each other. I asked several times where the boundries are and was told that I would know them when I got to them. Well I didn't. There was no tape or signs saying the end of one field and the begining of the next. Shoot, I have seen fields use roads, trails and even creeks as boundries. This field had trails and roads that could have been used if it had been spelled out before the game. The last thing I like is to be running a flanking manuver and have the ref yell across the field telling me not to go any farther because I am out of bounds. It just ruins that whole element of suprise thing. Then to top it all off, the other side decides to do the same thing but goes even more out then I did. But now I am starting to rant. The actual playing field is set up very nice with changes in elevation and cover. The actual man made bunkers do need some work but for a wooded field it was not bad. Oh and if any one tells you that you don't need camoflauge out there, there crazy. There is enough underbrush out there to use camoflauge for I got ambushed twice in one day. I had one of the locals tell me that there wasn't enough cover out there for camo to work and I took him at his word. Needless to say I was very visable out there in my JT jersey.

Oh and PyromaniaX, alot of military people think there better just because of the training they recieve. The thing is a newbie is a newbie no matter what there background. The thing about military people is you don't have to go through, usually (and I do stress usually), and teach them some of the things that even seasoned players don't do like communicate, work as a team, follow someone elses lead. What I am saying is that they usually have a better learning curve if they stick with it than your average run of the mill player. Plus they exercise 3 to 5 times a week, physical condition will help you out just as much as a good gun or the skill to shoot it.

yeah that does help to be military in some spots i guess. I always wear my camo pants when i go out there, but never my camo jacket, cuz it is too damn hot. I wear a Silver long sleave t-shirt with an earth tone green (looks like a camo color) billabong shirt over it. It works. I feel like an idiot wearing camo in a speedball game, but whatever. I think that the camo in the speedball games might even help because when ur trying to crossfire and see someone from the right side to the left, all u can see about 5 feet beyond the speedball boundery is trees and undergrowth, so u blend in.

There was 1 main thing that pissed me off this sunday when i played. We only played maybe 4 or 5 rec games, the other were all speedball (i like speedball better so that was good ) but when we did play rec ball, they used the same damned base everytime, the stupid capitol (the big one on the mound with all of the trenches and such, the main one). I like the DeathStar or the Pentagon better than the Capitol. Im just glad that we didnt play Pentagon, becuase if u r attacking that base, u have to crawl through the brush a WHOLE HELLUVA LOT!!! I found 7 ticks on my after the last Pentagon game, crazy huh?

Thumbs up new field in Fayetteville

Well the fields are , one in Sanford, about 20 mins from here, it is a speedball and rec field.
The second field is in Raeford, it is I heard a speedball and rec field also.
My teams' field is Hyper/Speedball field. One rec field, and one field with a bunker( built form pressure treated wood and Tower).
The speed ball field is not complete yet, as we all pitchin and built is, clearing out trees and building the bunkers. Bunkers are made from Chicken wire filled with pine straw, as this keeps the price down and you can form it to your desired. It works really well. We have a Co2 refill station, small shop, and we are getting a chrono, all our guns are choroed at the locate pro shop. as far as boundries go, they are ez, roads, stream and such mark the boundries.
Most of the players are guest and employees and family from work, we have a cook out afterwards, sort of a pot luck. It is great fun. I would be glad to have you come.
We have a large asortment of guns
Autococker
Impulse
Spyder TlL(auto)
Spyder TL
Compact 2000
Rebel ( we use it as a loner)
Nova
Inferno TErminator
Custom 98
Bruizer Bandit II
and a few others

it is why I am into the sport, more for the fun of it then the sport of it
