they will obviously make advancements with mechanicals if they are only able to work on those. and if they give up, no big deal. its business people.

So, you seem to be indicating that fewer choices for consumers and severe restrictions on technological advancement are "no big deal" for the consumer?
Perhaps you should research the George Seldon vs Henry Ford patent battle. Do you think it would have been "no big deal" if Seldon had won?

we arent talking about that matter. so the comparison is irrelevant.
face it, electros will still be made. concessions will be made on both sides and life will go on.

well guess what, if you invent something, then patent it, otherwise you are leaving the door open to anyone to steal you idea. It is PERFECTLY legal, and if i were sp, i would do the same. They saw the opportunity to make money, and they took it, thats what businesses do.

WTF why is everyone sueing SP i mean all they did was find an invention that wasn't patented and they seized the opportunity to take that idea and patent is, i mwan yea its not their idea but honestly if ur going to invent something then maybe u should have the brains to patent it b/c u kno that someone is going to come along and take the idea b/c its legal, if the invention would have been patented right after it was invented than we would have this little problem now would we?.........NO!!!

smart parts is dumb (yet smart business wise). how can you patent the simple idea of electronics in paintball guns. if you patent such a broad label, another company cant really change it around to make it work in a different way. okay, now, lets say they have sole rights to electronics in paintball guns. how would it be possible for my company to make a gun, that can compete with sp's electronic guns, and not include ANY form of electronic trigger or trigger that activates an electronic switch. i cant. theres no way to make a non electro gun that can compete with the speed of electro guns.
what smart parts did is patent something like paintballs. its such a broad label, that 15 different companies put out, and theres no real way to change it around to work differently, it still explodes after you get hit with it. thats the most important fact of all.
now, im sure you all are going to be like "but smart parts was running their business intelligently" yea, youre right, but that basically screws the consumer, making me have to pay some ridiculous amount for something that shouldnt cost NEARLY that much.
so in conclusion, smart parts is gay, patenting an idea they really shouldnt have attempted to, and they got served by getting owned in court. WDP lives on!
WDP > SP

It is relevant. The parallels are uncanny.
This patent equals less choices & higher prices. If thats good for you, so be it.
The thread is titled "Quit Hating on Smart Parts!!" The only reason you gave me to quit hating them is that they have good lawyers. Until I see a good reason to quit hating (lifting the patent on a switch ), I will continue to buy anything else.
I don't care if the Imp blows, the Shocker is great, or if Progressives can fly. The only way I can make a difference is to not support their unfair buisness practices. That why I got rid of my Freak.
Legal doesn't make right.

I saw a very interesting post awhile back, which would show you what Smart Parts did wrong. They patented something to ruin the sport.
The post was something along the lines of a list of items that paintball companies had the change to throw a patent on, but decided not to because it would cripple the sport.

theres an intelligent point. dont back it up. all that thinking might give you a hemmorage.
let's assume for a moment, thatsp is just out for money. well, thats the way of the world. get used to it. for centuries people have killed for it. so it shouldnt be a shock that a company is trying to make money. we'd all do the same thing if we had the chance.
and whats this about stopping the progression of paintbal technologies? whoever uses this as an anti sp point is backwards. companies being forced to not use this design will have to make a new one. thats progression. if it werent for competition like this, there'd be no advancement. thats part of why russia is behind the u.s. they dont have the competition that we do so there is nothing driving them to think up new technology. this will lead to great new ideas people.
sp designed the first marker of this type. it costs them alot. the fact that they are trying to make money off of it is legal and in my opinion, the way it should be.
|
so we make a gas-powered marker??
i dont know exactly what SP has patented but it sounds like they have patented the Electronic Switch or something. THat is a pretty important piece in a marker and i dont think that will go changing 'advancement wise' any-time soon. I see what your saying but i think an electronic switch is too broad and basic to be advanced upon
