Crazy pm8 eyes issue

So I just received my pm8 from the local shop. Everything is working nicely but it seems like the gun does not detect paint due to the ball sitting too far back in the breach.

Eyes off it shoots well. If you tilt the gun forward the eyes detect normally. Backward and the paint sits behind the eyes and is not detected. Any thoughts?

Not sure. I don't think so but it's giving me eye failure now. (Delicate little buggers...)
I only opened the left eye cover.

Everyone says I can use dm eyes instead?
Are dm4 eyes the same as the ones they are referring to? (They'd fit the board, but they seem pretty big.)

that's the one(s). if they are placed correctly then the eyes might be dirty?
have you checked for dirt/debris?

otherwise, turn the gun on (no HPA) and put your finger in the breach, remove it, put it back and see if the leds changes color (blue/red in semi on a virtue at least). If you click the trigger while keeping the finger there it will detect that "no ball has left the breech -> but since the gun did fire there must be something wrong with the eyes".

personally I recommend wired eyes, don't remember if the stock board took those however..

I'm not using a stock board atm. (Dm7 7th element board.)

I have an older dm which I could take the eyes from but don't know that they would fit or work through the eye pipe.

When the eyes were working they would register my finger at the front of the breech, but not the back. Same with paint, tilted forward it detected fine, backward I get the red non-detection light.

Now it's all green blinking though ... Got a nice deal on a bwing for it so hopefully that solves the above problem.

well, since the eyes seem to detect, just at the 'wrong place', I think that there is nothing wrong with the board/eyes/bolt.

the black rubber thingy (seats) should be rotated so that the line between the higher/lower portion of them run horisontal. (the slanted side goes towards the eyepipe). The higher portion is upwards.

you COULD take them out and switch sides, as in put the right one in the left one, because I think they were slightly angled... because that would throw the detection spot further back.

That last suggestion sounds like it could feasibly fix the problem. (Although I'm dreading fooling with the eye ribbon again)

Where's everybody getting their wired eyes?
It'd be nice to have something that a gust of wind can't put out of alignment.

I grabbed a set of wired eyes from a med parts kit, any DM wires seem to work. Routing them is a pita but not impossible and once you do it NO MOAR RIBBONS! Yay!

Will dm4-5 eyes work with the eye pipe? I may have to make a project out of this. I played all day yesterday with the eyes off and didn't have any breaks so not a huge deal.

honestly if you have tried moving around the eye receptors and you cant get it to flash red then you probably ripped the ribbon somewhere.

I am our teams gun tech and I ripped my ribbon the second time i had it out... its just super easy to do.

to see if your dm4-5 eyes will work simply plug them into your board. if they work then all you need to do is route them.

this is kind of a harder job so you might want to consider giving it to tech to do.

There's a great guide from a while back that showed how you could pin the eye wires beside the solenoid. I think that's the best method. I did it with tape myself and it took 6 attempts and about 2.5 hours lol.
