One of the big reasons that a lot of the southern California teams didn't play was that the WCPPL had to schedule their event 2 weeks prior to WCO. While some teams managed to play both, most had to choose between either WCPPL or PSP. If they moved the WCO event earlier, then WCPPL would be able to schedule their events better around the event to allow players to play both.

The hard part with having it earlier would be finding a venue. Both WCO events were held at soccer complexes. During the fall and spring, just about every soccer complex in so. cal. is being used for league games. During the summer and winter, there is only tournament play and that is scattered, so the fields are more open.

Even though this years event was not held on the actual soccer fields, it would be unlikely that the complex would allow a paintball tournament to go on at the same time as sanctioned youth soccer matches where every field is busy all day. Parking would be a nightmare and someone from the soccer side would complain about safety (just how they are).

Best chance of holding an earlier event would be in February, where there is a gap between the end of the high school season and the beginning of the spring league season.

I mentioned this earlier. Generally flights out of the midwest (can't speak for the other regions) to California are about $200-300 cheaper in March and April, while the weather is absolutely beautiful. Knowing that California is the first event, teams would have all Winter to save pennies and return Christmas gifts to save up.

As it is right now, with only a month and a half after Chicago to save and prepare, that's a huge burden on unfunded teams to come up with 6-10 expensive flights, entry, paint, practice, and everything else.

I know my team was one of those teams who could not afford just the plane tickets alone, much less the rest of the financial expense.

PSP should just make their own complex in like Texas or something where each event is held.

One of the greatest rewards of playing tournament paintball has been the opportunity to travel the country by going to events.

One permanent venue would be a huge bummer.

I agree with both. I would miss the travel to different areas of the US, but It would be nice to have the PSP sign like a 3-5 year deal in certain areas so we all know say 2 or 3 events will be in the same place for a few years to come.

I personally witnessed a female spectator throwing paintballs at one of the little picnic shelters in the parking lot, and immediately suggested to her to stop doing that. She asked why, and I said that the people that maintain the park and the township that it is in will not enjoy seeing their concrete covered in paintball juice. She stopped, and I hope that the team that she was with (who was right there, and I will not mention their name), cleaned up the mess that she created.

It's just the nature of the beast I guess.

Things like that really bother me. I noticed that park employees were power-washing all day/every-day, I could tell by the guys body language that he was appalled at the amount of paint in the parking lot and on the concrete by the concession stand/shaded area (to the right of the pro field).

. That is the main reason why I play PSP, to travel and see different parts of the country that I would otherwise never get the chance to see.

February would be way too early. Would be hard to practice the layout for most teams as the outdoor fields are still covered in snow in the east/midwest. Not to mention, what will PSP do during the long gap between Chicago and Cup..schedule another? Scheduling another Midwest or another western event would be cool. Possibly Denver/Phoenix/Vegas?

WCO, Dallas, Chicago (I am good with somewhere new due to so many years od bed weather), NE/MA and then Cup.

Dallas is very nice in May and So Cal use to be good when we played there in March many many years ago.

As far as Chicago I have been playing that event for 14 years now. I like having an event in Chicago but its pretty obvious the weather does not like use there the 3rd or 4th week of June.

I miss when MAO was in NC. We would play the CFOA there then come right back to the PSP. But I'm sure it is a stretch for the West Coast guys just like it is for the East Coast guys to go to Cali. But the traveling and experiences in all the random places you go are what make this sport fun.

Underground bar? Around here, those tend to be something like this, but since it's California, I guess that's the norm..
