Anyone who thinks there is something wrong with the NG platform is a simpleton.
Rollback... like this? Though this is specific to the ego i doubt all markers have tight tolerances for ball detent and bolt face distances.

So after watching the bid, I'm not seeing how this will increase efficiency like some people have said. Now that you've shot it Tim2thousand4, is is worth it? Is it that big of a difference?

Tim doesn't work for Blast, he has his own company. I trust Tim's opinion ... just not his taste in DMs. LOL ...

Yeah... Except Tim gives his true opinion regardless of whether it'll cost him a sale. He's a cool dude and I generally value his take.

Papa beat me, lol.

Don't listen to anyone who has said that efficiency will increase. No one in the know has actually said that. In fact they have said that efficiency should stay pretty much the same.

Not sure why you are even posting so much in this. I thought you had decided that the Geo was the best thing ever? Go away fat kid.

Yeah...not quite there buddy.

Anyways the piece about increasing efficiency seemed flawed to begin with. And to be more specific about my question, for somebody who doesn't have chopping/ball breakage issues, is the difference on sound and smoothness/kick that much of a difference to justify dropping $70 on it?

nope, but they have no reason to buy it. I do not think that this will give any significant efficiency change over the original bolt.

It was said efficiency decreases by about a pod or 2: The New Bob Long Soft Shot Bolt is a drop in replacement for the Insight only. The new brass ram design slows down the speed of the bolt. This in-turn allows you to turn down the pressure. Lower pressure provides less kick, combined with the new soft tip bolt the ability to shoot the most fragile of paint.

Correct. I never said the efficiency would increase. From my experience testing it, the efficiency dropped by a pod or so. The ability to handle fragile paint definitely outweighs the benefit of another pod.

I'm looking forward to testing this bolt out this weekend in both the new Victus and a BCA Insight.
In testing yesterday in the basement I saw a 15 FPS DROP when putting the new bolt in which means I had to increase the pressure to get it back to 285. That will decrease efficiency and I suspect increase sound signature, but I was in the basement ... so it was hard to tell. I'll report back after Saturday.

My initial hypothesis was that efficiency would drop and pressure would remain the same, at a minimum, when compared to the stock bolt at any given velocity and no other changes. Glad to see I wasn't far off.

All that effort into making a soft tip bolt and they STILL didn't bevel the edge. Ugh....

Not really. It should be 30-45 degrees from the tip of the rubber to the tip of the metal. There's almost nothing there. :/

I wouldn't worry about that. Every bolt that uses an Axe tip has a flush straight transition between the aluminum body and rubber tip. Axes are arguably better with fragile paint than anything else. I wouldn't worry about the lack of a taper.
