That wouldn't be chopping, it would be barrel breaks, or bolt impact breaks.

For me in the UK, climate definitely plays a huge part in what to run the markers at - as well as if the marker is new or had orings replaced.

For example, I had a brand new Victus running on 12ms dwell puffing (it was really humid out). I had to increase the dwell to 14ms to get it shooting consistently. As the day progressed, it could be lowered to 13ms.
My broken in Insight was running fine at 10.5ms on the same day - +/- 2fps over the chrono.

For my customers, I either leave it on stock 12ms or bump it up slightly to max of 14ms. Any higher and it'll be a different problem.

Again, also depends on what lube they use. Dow33 I find isn't great. Monkey Poo, Pathogen Super Grease and Lurker Lube are very good with it.

Main thing is, if you are having FSDO and everything is fine, just bump the dwell a tiny bit to counter-act it - like most guns. Keep checking throughout the day and adjust if conditions improve. Most times, stock is fine.

It gets cold here in Indiana (we had record lows this winter, it was miserable) but nobody plays when it's that cold.

Preach brother. Felt like Ft. Wayne became a part of Alaska this winter.

Y'all don't know what winter really is ... Paying in the mountains and foothills stops, but 400 inches of snow will do that.
We still play here in CO on the eastern plains during most of the winter ... but rarely do we have issues with the winter blends of paint.

Big Papa, where do you play in the winter? Any of the indoor places get good action?

I played outdoors this winter on a day in which it dipped into the negatives and there was snow almost up to my knees. Playing indoors that day was still 20 degrees F. That may not be the coldest weather anyone has ever heard of but I doubt anyone would be saying 'how warm' it was that day. It gets pretty damn cold in Indiana.

I'm originally from Indiana, so I know the weather there during the winter. What makes it different in Indiana is the moisture in the air. Making layers necessary. Here the air is so dry a light jacket is really all you need until you get into the negatives ... Different type of cold ...

Nope, I still play at Blitz which is usually fine unless the wind is really blowing ...

No it wont, it's a different system. Also the vcom dosent need the extra weight. I believe the bolt head will fit though.

With the new bolt, should any of the board settings be changed? If so, what should they be?

Out of the few markers I've used, settings were all the same.

Not sure what the point would be of putting it on the VCOM engine.

Seems like the biggest improvement Bob could make to the VCOM engine would be to mill the end of the ram shaft the same way they milled the shaft on the VIS engine. Allow the bolt to 100% always sit flush and not get cockeyed if not put on just right.

Biggest annoyance with these guns is the breech wear. Has this been less of an issue with the VIS engine? I may not ever put the VCOM engine in my new VIS because of the wear issue.

So from the video posted up there, it doesn't seem that there will be any efficiency gains, but rather, efficiency will decline a bit. Do you suppose the fps drop is because of the slower bolt speeds or because of the different bolt heads? How does fps compare when using the stock bolt head with the new brass?

I noticed a 10 fps decrease, but a lot better consistency.

I don't mind losing the 10fps. Aa smoother shot in a marker that gets more than a case off of my ninja 77 is amazing to me. I'm just wondering if it can be smoother without losing the 10fps. Mine should be in today, i'll do some testing and post results.

Will the new bolt make the Insight Vcom smooth or close to it? Will we notice a difference right away or is there a break in period? Will the bolt tips be available separate?

just tested the new bolt... i am on the fence on this one.

test set up
insight with 11ms dwell
lurker 14 inch, 2 piece eigen barrel with .678 bore.
1 single reball shot over and over
virtue clock chrono

stock bolt and ram = 291fps average.
new bolt and ram = 275fps
stock bolt with new ram = 290fps

the shot is noticeably smoother. the new bolt does have a softer sound signature too. i think i'm gonna run with the new ram and stock bolt in my set up as it maintains the fps and has the smoother shot. if i do ever get a bunch of breaks with more tourney grade paints, i will switch over to the soft face bolt and see how that goes because it does seem like it will handle those paints better.

conclusion = i like it. but the price is too damn high for what you get out of it. should have been priced around 40 to 50$
