Insight in cold weather and/or brittle paint

Hey guys, I'm just wanting to see how your markers handle cold weather (~30 degrees) and brittle paint. I play through the winter and can't afford to deal with a marker that requires 6 shots to get up to velocity or can't manage good paint when it's brittle. I use Lurker lube. My Insight works great but it's also 80 degrees right now. What can I expect once winter sets in?

You need to overbore just a little.

I normally do no matter what I'm shooting. The reason I'm concerned with the Insight is the bolt speed. It doesn't appear to be the most gentle design on paint.

The Bolt speed forward is nearly the same as a Victory which is generally accepted to be easy on paint. It is the rearward movement that is much quicker which accounts for the efficiency. This winter the Insight did great in temps between 20 and 40 ... but I was using monkey poo and shooting Valken Graffiti winter blend. I had 0 issues. Use a thinner lube, you should be good I would think ... you may also have to adjust your dwell a tad too maybe.

Evil paint at LL7 was extremely brittle and my insight did great with it.

Insights love to eat lube as it is, so during the colder times be sure to keep it well lubed.

Thanks guys, good to know. I use Lurker lube because it sticks around so well and just seems to promote slickness better than anything else I've used.

EDIT: Wow, I just stuck my finger down the breach to test this. The bolt runs at an extremely low forward pressure. Impressive.

Lol. I'm glad you did that. I know you should be able to do it, but I wasn't about to try it.

If you hold the bolt back it's nothing.

Just dont stick your finger towards the front of the breach and allow the bolt to get some speed.

I haven't used my Insight in the cold but I been shooting some pretty awful paint just to break it in (left over paint I find at the field sitting in pods and ****) and I haven't broken a ball. I put a few pods of this **** paint through it on full auto and got 22 bps with my spire that had dyeing batteries and not a single break in the gun.

Try it with a piece of macroline first. You'll see that the bolt pressure is extremely low. Even if you put your finger against the front of the breach and let the bolt bounce off of it, it's very low. I've got my Angel LPR set at 52 psi and just going by feel, the Insight's bolt pressure is considerably less.

settings in cold weather

Ok so I have yet to go threw a cold weather with my insight. and my question for you all is did you guys change any settings to allow your insight to perform under cold weather conditions.

So far I have only shot my insight in extreme hot conditions and I have ran my setting all stock on the 5.19bd board but I have turned my dwell to 8ms sometimes 7ms but about 95% of the time at 8ms. im in sacramento California and the cold weather aint too far away.

I use a Dwell of 10.5 and didn't have to touch it for cold weather. So if anything you may need to raise that Dwell a little and I would think you would be good.
Also if you haven't looked into the soft touch bolt, you might want to consider it. It does make a noticeable difference.
