I would probably get an older dye or planet eclipse gun when you got ready to upgrade. You can find 2007 model guns from that company for as little as $200 sometimes and it will give you experience finding out what kind of guns you like. Once you start spending a considerable amount on guns the performance difference becomes less noticeable and the focus becomes what you like ergonomically and how much maintenance you like performing.

Ask players you see at your local field what kind of guns they have and what they think of them! Other players are usually a pretty good resource, and most will let you shoot whatever they're using that day. Like I said, nothing is outright better than anything else after a certain point, it just comes down to what YOU want to use.

DM8, PM7, Ego8, blah blah blah.... a great upgrade is a high end gun from to 07-09 range. Like the poster above said, you can get them cheap are you are going to get a sick shooting marker.

just echo everything the man above me said when it comes to upgrading.

While what most of these guys will tell you are good suggestions, I highly suggest you play the game with the gun you have for a while. Note what you like about it and what you don't like about it. Try some other markers and note the same things about them...where they're better than your marker and where they are not as good.

Eventually you'll have a list of things that you want and, just as importantly, don't want in a marker. Then you can narrow down your choices as to what works best for you and the type of game you play.

When I got my first gun I got something MilSim and people told me I would hate it. Too big, too heavy, a bunch of stuff just for looks and you'll never need. I played with that gun for 10 years. So what suits others may not suit you and visa versa.

thats a good set up. save the money and buy more paint and play more. have fun. if you want to get more into the sport then work on getting new gear. i would recomend getting a high end mask. try them on see what fits your head best.

When you shoot at people do you feel like a BOSS when they scream "I'm OUT, I'M OUT"??? If so then that set-up is absolutely perfect for you. If it were me I would upgrade everything else before the marker.

Keep the hopper and keep the mask, later on upgrade to a Carbon Fiber HPA tank. Grab a good pair of shoes or boots. Then I would tinker and upgrade the Spyder with some spring kits, larger valves and most importantly a better barrel. You will be surprised at what a few cheap upgrades can do to a marker. After you spent the maybe $100 total on upgrades you will then get bored of the marker that is when you should upgrade to a "better" marker. Good luck bro.

If you said that you're just getting into paintball and that's the set up that you're working with, then by all means go for it. Nothing wrong with it, and quite frankly you'll probably be playing with most people that use rentals, correct? You'll have the upper-hand on them with your equipment anyways.

When things go on down the road and you're "addicted" to paintball as most of us would call it, then go ahead and bump up to a earlier year high-end marker.
I always think back to my origin 08 ego and think about how that was my workhorse: it never broke down on me and always shot straight as an arrow. 08-09 guns are fairly cheap to come by these days and sure, they may not have all the flash as all the newer guns, but they get the job done and do what you need them to do.

For a gun after that, I'd say get an Etek 4 used or an Axe used. If you really want a good marker for cheap, get a DM12 used off here, but it requires a lot of maintenance.
