Cleaning Exalt Barrel Maid?

I purchased the Exalt Barrel Maid, and when I got it, the material was so feathery and clean. I heard it was washable, so after I got it really dirty with paint, I dumped a bottle of water on it and squeezed out moisture with my hands. I'm guessing this was the wrong way to do it, as now the barrel swab is still tinted yellow and is now kind of frizzy and matted.
Is there a certain way to clean the Exalt Barrel Maid to keep it the same quality as when I bought it?

I put mine through the washer with the rest of my gear and then let it air dry.

washer works, or put dish soap, and water on it and stroke it. Then wash all the soap out. then grab the swab from the end and whip it around and it will give it some of the fluffy-ness back

I just run mine under running water and ring the water and paint out of it then let it air dry. Looks good as new.

I find these to be way to tight to pull through most of my barrels.

Sounds like you didn't get all the paint out. Like mentioned, some dish soap and warm water. When rinsing, make sure to continue until the water comes out crystal clear.

I usually have a tall narrow tupperware with lots of isopropyl alcohol and I just toss my barrels or swabs in there and shake shake shake.

If a swab, rinse off and dry
if a barrel, then swab, rinse off, swab, rinse off, let dry.

takes a few seconds and it's easy

I'm lazy as ****

I just rinse it out in the sink using lukewarm water until the water is clear. Ring out using my hands, then let it air dry. Good as new.

I leave mine in my swab pocket - run my pants through the washer (on cold) and then air dry. Everything comes out squeaky clean and ready to go again.

I just use luke warm water and stroke it until the water is clear.

Usually no stains left, but if any stains, i would say its the paint you were using.

And do you remove o-rings from the barrels before you throw them into the alcohol?

I just wash them with the rest of the gear, and then thumble dry (forced air one, not condenser).
