Dovetail Mount=No On/off valve

I heard that if your Impulse comes with a dovetail mount you dont need a on/off valve. What is the difference between the dovetail and regular mount that makes you able not to use a on/offvalve.

This question totally has me confused....

A dove tail is the thing on the back of the gun you would mount a sight on. Execpt a sight wouldnt work on the imp unless you hang it out the side because all you would see through the sight is the vertical feed.

now the on off valve, is an option on any tank. You use the valve insted of a pin. There is no reason you WOULDNT want an on off valve.

So what exactally are you trying to find out here??

Ok my question is do you need an On/off valve on your tank if your Impulse comes with a dovetail mount. Here is an example of one.

See how the reg is connected to a bar on the grip frame. Well i heard that you dont need a on/off valve when screwing in your tank with one of these.

Theorhetically..a good question, but I do not think the mount is going to have a thing to do with the Max-Flo. It is still going to require a "slow" gas up. From my understanding of S-Parts theory on this, is because of the low pressure/high flow characteristics of the reg., is why you want to gas up slowly. No other reason than that.

Ok let's all be friends in here. But to answer Hellraisers question NO you don't need a on/off valve on the newer dovetail maxflow mounts. The difference between the old two bar maxflow mount and dovetail maxflow mount that makes it so you don't need an on/off valve is the pin that compresses the tank pin is shorter on the dovetail mount maxflows. However, you could just use the "o-ring trick" and it works just fine.

You should use an on/off valve, it's better for you gun, and they are just sweet in general, but you dont NEED one.

Have to realy seprate this into two questions...

It is possible to screw a pin valve tank into a new style Impulse with the dovetail mount. You don't have to use the old "o-ring trick"

This could be very good news to the fokes planing to use screw in N2 tanks. BUt it may not be. The other problem with the new doveltail mount is that there is no room for the gagues of a screw in tank to "swing' Soooo You have a couple a choices. You can screw the dove tail adapter on the the tank BEFOR you slide it on the mount, or you can turn the mount around backwards.

second question... SHOULD you use a tank with a pin valve? If we are taking CO2-- i would recomend against it. First you have to have an anti syphon tube in the tank and most places will not set up a pin valve tank with an anti syphon. Second, you should always "air up' a smartparts guns very slowly-- this is much easier to do with an On=Off valve.

Minor problem 2--- about the only on/off valve that will fit in the new mount is the Smart Parts valve (new style with round knob)

Sooo...

You should use a tank with a smart Parts on/off valve and anti syphon tube set up for your gun

The other way to solve the problems is to sinply get the vertical reg Impulse which has a "normal" ASA with a vertical mount Maxflo
