I use hiking shoes. They are more comfortable than most cleats, I get good traction and they are water resistant.

If I'm playing open play on airball I generally wear baseball cleats. If it's rec I like to wear some good trail runners for the comfort.

I have some old New Balance Trail runners with good traction for places with concrete, and Adidas soccer cleats for dirt and grass.

A boot or shoe being able to provide substantial and meaningful ankle support is a myth. I cannot tell you know how many ankle sprains I've seen from people wearing boots. Hell, a sturdy hiking boot did nothing to stop me from breaking my fibula just above the ankle (still covered by the shoe). If a device is able to keep the ankle from moving, mobility is going to suffer big time and it would be hellishly unfcomortable.

A lighter shoe (less fatigue over the course of a day) and careful foot placement (paying attention) will do far more to protect your lower extremities than "ankle support".

I prefer a soccer shoe with soft cleats (Adidas Turf Hog) for use indoor (turf) and outdoor. Soccer and football cleats are meant to be worn by people who will need to shift direction rapidly, thus 360* traction is better than a baseball cleat.

Be careful not to step on wet logs or the like with cleats on. You will be in for quite the ride.

Definitely don't wear baseball cleats, just get a pair of soccer or football cleats and call it a day. I wouldn't suggest Landsharks, but pretty much any other Puma, Nike, UA, or Adidas cleat you can find on clearance should work fine.

Why wouldn't you suggest landsharks? I've had nothing but success with mine - and they are cheap to boot!

I've had no problems with my landsharks.

Strangely enough, some golf cleats work great. The exalt cleats are partly based on golf cleats.

i say go with soccer cleats. they are going to be good in all types of weather and surfaces. they are designed for more directional traction as the sport has a lot of sharp cuts or quick direction changes.

Soccer cleats are always a nice choice. And you can find good pairs for a decent price.

Just went cleat browsing yesterday, I found soccer cleats most comfy to wear. They seemed to have more arch support and fight tighter for some reason.
