You bought a Prius to get 35mpg? ****, I'm pretty sure the TDI Jettas get better gas mileage than that. And a lot less homosexual.

It averages high 40s without mountain bikes on the roof and not driving up a mountain. But I am pretty bummed I'm missing out on the legendary VAG reliability.

In that case I'd rather a simple 4 banger

To be fair, the new TDI system's kind of suck. The DPF's don't typically last a lot more than 100k miles. Longest I have seen the stock one go is like 150k. Which IS a lot of miles, but most people who buy diesels will do that in a few years. You only get away from those in the more recent Passat and Touareg Diesels that use the Urea additive.

That said, I'd still rather have a gutless TDI than a gutless prius.

they still have DPF's with adblue, they're for two completely different emissions. after a certain GVWR the adblue is required for the NOx reduction catalyst. DPF is a completely separate component.

I managed to get 30 MPG in my G20(nissan sentra essentially) and it's an automatic from 1996 and obviously not a hybrid. I'm sure there's plenty of other cars from that period that beat mine too.

Every person I see driving a Prius on the highway is driving at least 10 miles over the speed limit, and I often see them "gunning" it just to get in front of me at the red light. These people were getting ****ty mileage in their old cars because they drove like a 16 year old asian boy. Now they're getting the mileage they should have got with their old car but could get much better if they just learned how to drive intelligently.

I think "FAT PONY" is more appropriate.
