Thoughts on vltor stock? Handled a few rifles in the store today to compare stocks and think the vltor was my favorite.

Will do, I'll check those out. I was mostly thinking about it since I wash the car every other week but probably only wax it once every other month so I was hoping the wash and wax one might give me some sort of protective layer until the next real wax.

I think they make a couple stocks but all should be good to go. Stocks are really a matter of preference, whatever feels good and gives you a good cheek weld. Are you mostly shooting off of a bench? If so, I wouldn't care about weight and look for something with a cheek riser.

I went back and forth on stocks a lot and eventually settled on a Magpul FCS since it was simple, light and rock solid. Might still replace it down the road but my 6.8 is already a bit heavy and sorta bulky. So I'm happy with the FCS for the time being.

So while replacing the stock I permanently bonded my old buffer tube and my old backplace. Guess I can't return said stock kit to my friend in unused condition. $60 mistake

On a more positive note, I am really happy with how it turned out. Vincent/others I is scope noob, so I am assuming I have somehow mounted it like a retard. Please don't flame too much.

The safety does not go on unless it's charged.

I don't see anything particularly wrong .Looks like it might be mounted back a little far if anything but I don't know what the eye relief on that scope is. Plus I don't know how you hold a rifle/where your head is relative to the scope.

Now that Pete finally finished his AR he has to clear all the rooms in the apartment with it every time he comes home. How else will he hone his siq mall ninja skills to become the next James Yeager?

I think my head must by far back. I started out with it placed a few notches farther forward but it didn't really work.

How do you hold your rifle? I tend to shoot much more across my body than with my chest square with my target so that is probably why my head is further up than yours. I realize this is unpopular with the tacticool crowd but hey, it's worked for a hundreds of years and I have no delusions of being a SWAT team member.

I think more like you say. I usually shoot with one foot a little behind the other versus an even stance which I think in the popular way nowadays. I'm used to football and wrestling and stuff where I always had an offset stance so the even stance does not really feel natural to me. I have long arms so I have the stock fully extended.

Fully extended stock could be another reason. My FCS is probably similar to 1 or 2 positions shy of fully extended on a regular 6 position collapsible.
