Blitz Re-occurring regulator malfunction

I just bought a slightly used Blitz (pure energy basics 65/45 tank) and the seller said that it has a regulator leak for the second time in two uses. The first time he used the marker he got the leak and I guess he did not know how to repair the problem so he dropped it off at a shop who never got around to the repair until a month later. When he used the market for the first time after the repair he said he got the regulator malfunction again. So I connected the tank and sure enough, air is gushing from the weep holes that are on the grip. Before I buy the repair kit I figured I would just run this by the forum see everyones thoughts. Any advice would be appreciated.

Not 100% sure. Ill check again. All I know is that it is pretty loud and the was definitely coming through at least 1 of those holes that are near the center of the grip.

Ok, check/lube/replace your piston oring.

another question...on the bottom of the reg, the adjustment screw, is the c clip still in place?

Not sure what the c-clip is but I will look at it when I get the chance.

the c clip keeps the adjustment screw from removing completely from the reg. If its gone, id almost bet that the oring on the adjustment is blown to pieces.

have you disassembled the reg yet?
that would be my first suggestion, to rip the whole reg apart and refer to the manual (page 5)
http://azodin.com/Support/MANUALS/BLITZ11_MANUAL.pdf
to make sure all the parts are there, in the right place, and nothing is missing

not sure how new you are to paintball. I was super intimidated about taking a gun apart but after doing it it's seriously super easy, especially with the reference right there

Alright thank you. I am new to paintball but not new to breaking down mechanical equipment or electronics so I have some basic skills. I was not able to take a look at it yesterday but I will take care of it today. I will post what I find. In the meantime I have an oring kit on the way to repair any if necessary.

I had a chance to take a quick look on my lunch break and yes air is escaping from the weep hole close to the middle and near the bottom of the grip.

Ok. Replace your piston oring first. Then let's see where you are.

I will be referencing the PDF above as I continue troubleshooting this problem. I took the bottom half of the regulator apart and pulled the piston out (P084). My findings so far are that I did not see what I assume is the Cclip (P087), and part P086 did not seem to be complete because I only see the about 1/4 inch threaded part that needs to be removed to begin disassembly. Part R033 needs to be replaced. The piston oring and all other orings looked fine. I only disassembled up to part P082 an then slid the piston out to take a look.

all of those should be available at store.azodin.com for very reasonable prices.

by the way are you sure you mean P033? those are the eye covers and are on the body of the gun. you shouldn't have air blowing through those.

My mistake. I meant R033.

I do not have the C-Clip. I do not see it anywhere. What is the purpose of that part and do I need it?

the c clip on the reg keeps the adjuster from being backed too far out. theres is a certain spot when you back it out too much that the oring gets literally blown to pieces. causing a constant gush of air from the lower section of the reg. I would replace the piston oring and check ro34 to make sure its intact.

its strange that ro33 would go bad, but that could explain the leak thru the bottom hole.
so replace 31, 33 and inspect 34.....that should get you done.

Sorry again I forgot to mention that R034 is broken.

Any ideas why all of these orings would have been blown 1 use after repair?

improper lube. And the way I explained is the only way I've seen ro34 to blow.

Without the C-Clip, what would be the proper way to re-assemble the regulator after the orings are lubed and replaced?

the reg is perfectly fine without the clip. Set it to pressure and leave it. There is never a good reason to have to increase pressure. Make sure you put some lube in the reg top housing as well.
piston, piston stem, reg collar...etc but just a little, too much lube is just as bad as not enough.

Hello,

The orings will blow after 1 use because of the following reasons:

1. Old Oring (despite not being used, orings will decay with time)
2. Oring size too small or too big
3. Regulator is adjusted too high

If the regulator is over-adjusted when air is present, the spring or regulator seat might be damaged. This can lead to high pressure to build up in the regulator and inconsistency. Please review our video:
