Saw an RSV4 Factory, new S1000RR, and a Panigale at the track today. All being ridden slow, fat guys. I had my proudest moment of jerry rigging today. The gasket for the fuel pump was leaking after the first session and dripping gas all over the engine. Obviously I wasn't going to keep riding this way, so I pulled the tank off and disassembled the bottom to see what the problem was. After finding out the gasket was old and partly collapsed I was freaking out trying to figure out how to get it to stop as disassembly/reassembly didn't help. Turns out my insulated coffee thermos thing has a rubber gasket that keeps coffee from getting out between the body and lid. I was able to stretch it a bit and put it over the stock gasket/o-ring and clamp the retaining ring back down and... no leaks. Obviously I'm ordering some new o-rings, but it let me finish riding the rest of the day.
Edit: BT-003s are amazing, by the way. They seemed like they had similar grip levels to a Pirelli Diablo SuperCorsa, but a lot less wear at the end of the day. Part of that could just be that I'm used to the way the Speed Triple would chew up and booger tires.
