Saw an RSV4 Factory, new S1000RR, and a Panigale at the track today. All being ridden slow, fat guys. I had my proudest moment of jerry rigging today. The gasket for the fuel pump was leaking after the first session and dripping gas all over the engine. Obviously I wasn't going to keep riding this way, so I pulled the tank off and disassembled the bottom to see what the problem was. After finding out the gasket was old and partly collapsed I was freaking out trying to figure out how to get it to stop as disassembly/reassembly didn't help. Turns out my insulated coffee thermos thing has a rubber gasket that keeps coffee from getting out between the body and lid. I was able to stretch it a bit and put it over the stock gasket/o-ring and clamp the retaining ring back down and... no leaks. Obviously I'm ordering some new o-rings, but it let me finish riding the rest of the day.

Edit: BT-003s are amazing, by the way. They seemed like they had similar grip levels to a Pirelli Diablo SuperCorsa, but a lot less wear at the end of the day. Part of that could just be that I'm used to the way the Speed Triple would chew up and booger tires.

It was really strange riding a sport bike again. I've just been blasting around on the WR since the fall and I definitely had to relearn some things. One of the control riders had a new SuperDuke. That thing looked so effortlessly fast.

Man, I'm already back in Houston, ****.

I'll be back in Tallahassee at the end of the month, but at St. George Island. It's still a good 3 or 4 hours from Ocala. If you get the chance, do some riding in the South GA/North FL area. Lot's of hills and decently curvy roads.

I had thought about doing one super long day and hitting Georgia and Alabama just so I could say I've ridden there but it's a bike from where we're staying.

Mmmnn, Hallett's one of my favorite tracks. Been forever since I've been out there, definitely jealous.

Also I've heard that BMW bikes needs a metric ****-ton of maintenance compared to other bikes
true or false?

You can buy a new Repsol rep from a dealership or buy a used one on Craigslist. They even make the little CBR250 in Repsol colors. BMWs are marginally more maintenance intensive than the Japanese equivalent, but I think it's more of an issue of vocal owners than unreliable bikes.

Cool, thanks for the info.

I google'd "Buy Honda Repsol" and got nothing so I wasn't sure.
Also, are there any major differences between a regular cbrxxx(x) and a repsol bike? I know that the wheels are different and it has that custom paint job on it, but what else?

Glancing between my maintainence schedule and that of a Z1000 they don't appear to be too different with me having an extra 2k miles before fiddling with the valves. I can't speak for the boxer twins but with the I4's it seems to be the same story as the cars, all the same, just people who don't own them and who will never own them talking about them being more costly to maintain.
