Anti-fog for Prescription Glasses

Hi guys,

Was playing yesterday and was having issues with my glasses fogging up. I have thermal goggles in my mask so those are fine but its my actual prescription glasses that I'm having issues with. Can anyone speak to using anti-fog coating on their glasses? I'm concerned its going to damage them or change the view through them so that I wouldn't be able to use them during my normal day to day.

Thanks!

I had a similar problem to this a few weeks ago. I went to the sports authority and they had some anti-fog glasses spray there. Honestly, it doesn't even really work that well. I used almost the entire bottle one day, towards the end I just gave up and just tried to play through my fogged glasses. I know oakley makes some nice anti-fog if you have an oakley near you.

I've been looking for something like this for a long time actually. I've heard great things about MotoSolutions FogTech solution, but there's also something I have 0 knowledge on but is an apparent solution for your glasses lenses themselves : Optifog. While I will be asking about this for my next pair of glasses, I honestly have no idea how it works or if it works.

Defogit is also supposed to be extremely good. I've been relying on Spit for now and I don't have great things to say about it.

Fogdoc is amazing for this application. I highly recommend it.

The only issue you will run into with it, or any other applicated anti-fog product is if you sweat onto your glasses you have to reapply. Basically after every game I had to clean my glasses and reapply Fogdoc during the summer.

The end all solution is to switch to contacts while playing, but if that is not possible Fogdoc is the way to go.

I normally didn't have much trouble with fogging, but early on, I'd coat my goggle lenses with baby shampoo with a q-tip and rub off. Never had to do it to my glasses, but it's worth a try.

The only true way to keep your glasses from fogging up is to wear contacts on paintball days!!!

A good seal around the eyes work well. I was having the same issue until I picked up my pro-flex. The foam seals well and I haven't had an issue since.

Other than that, contacts like mentioned. I'm going to get some just for the ease of sliding my mask on and off.

baby shamoo and a mix of water is a good cheap fix.

what type of mask are you using? most nice masks wont have an issue with fogging. i wear Grills and a Proflex and havent had any issues with my glasses fogging.

I have a JT Proflex. I'm a beefy guy and not in perfect shape so I sweat quite a ton and my face generates a lot of heat. I also think my glasses aren't adjusted properly so they are pretty close to my face, maybe if I got them adjusted so they had some space between my face they wouldn't fog as much.

Make sure you're wearing some form of headband, and put it between your forehead and the foam at the top of the mask. I sweat a lot, and doing this helps to keep the moisture out of the inside of the mask, and helps a lot with fog control also.

Yeah, I carry like 3 or 4 of them, and just swap them out once they start getting damp

Hmm.. I actually haven't had too many issues with my glasses fogging up. I've actually wondered why. Maybe transitions? I've definitely heard a lot about using baby shampoo for this though.

The JT fans are/were amazing for this. Buzzing, and annoying, but damn did they work to keep your glasses clear.

I did actually end up getting a small amount of contacts specifically for paintball. I have a really hard time putting them in and taking them out even after a lot of practice so I don't use them day to day but for paintball they are great!

That's what I do, glasses for every day and contacts for paintball. For some reason I'm no longer able to wear contacts for more than about 8 hours without them becoming incredibly uncomfortable

Also, one more vote for fogdoc. That stuff just plain works

I actually opted to sort the whole thing out and am getting my eyeballs lasered (Lasik) on Saturday. I couldn't do contacts really so I used to double up with glasses underneath. I used Spit and it helped a fair bit.

Glasses with the little padded bits (no idea what to call them) that keep it off your nose work the best as well. The farther off your face your glasses are the better.
