Comcast to Roll-out Data Caps for All Customers within 5 Years

While he's not saying exactly when or how this would expand beyond the cap system's limited existing footprint, the company would gradually increase caps as demand goes up to make sure that the "vast majority" of users don't bump into it. Cohen doesn't anticipate having complex plans that force people to worry about their usage, but he warns that it's hard to make long-term predictions. "Five years ago I don't know that I would have heard of something called an iPad," he says.
Not sure if everyone saw this. I seriously hope that my market gets rolled into the new pseudo Charter company. Data-caps in this day and age are so regressive.

Data caps have already been in place for most residential cable service... Comcast was 250gb per month... Was actually threatened with a 12 month service ban for overages... Currently they are testing several different billing structures... Like the faster the speed package you get... The more monthly bandwidth allowed or a base bandwidth allotment for all packages with the option to add on chunks of bandwidth...

With this going all they have disabled limits in my area anyways per their website. The same site also says that most users average 25gb a month lol

Granted I'm not the usual user but I broke 5 tb in a month and commonly surpass 2tb... The future should be interesting... But with everything going on the network from you're fridge to cable tv service... It's not going away

Locally I thought our contract said something along the lines of a 500gb per month limit. The real problem is there are only two available providers comcrap/xfinity and centurylink in my area. My hope is that local USI Wireless will greatly expand the fiber optic backbone that can provide 100mb/s download and no caps for 1/2 the cost.

Comcast is also trying to roll out broadcasting Comcast WiFi from all Comcast user's cable modems/WiFi router combos.
