Will changing tank to low pressure reduce shot noise?

I am taking the shims out of my ninja regulator so the output will be low pressure around 500... Will that make the gun shoot quieter?

No. You will still ultimately feed the valve train with the same pressure. It will sound the same.

If it's a new marker it needs to be broken in then you'll have to readjust your pressure settings. No marker is 'whisper' quiet out of the box and it all comes down to tolerances.

My dm14 is broken in perfectly and tuned but it is still louder than my axe and pm6. I only care about the noise cuz u enjoy dry firing and my neighbors are not fans

Well dry firing is going to be pretty loud no matter what marker since nothing is causing back pressure and muting the sound.
Still comes down to a tolerance issue on parts, so even if you have 10-20 cases through it, that's no broken in by most standards. Despite the amount of cycles that amount of paint would put on a marker.

If you want to dry-fire without the neighbors thinking a crime was being committed, dry-fire into rags or a pillow (with rags on the feedneck, too).

I'm pretty lucky in our current neighborhood. The actual gunfire drowns out my dry-firing very well.

I guess moving To the hood is the solution to my problem haha. I do use a pillow and blanket for dry firing tho. I live in a dorm so it's loud. I'm probably not even supposed to have a gun in the dorm but F it.

well spoken, marker just needs tuned and broken in.

i always found there's 3 real factors to noise and that was mechanical operating noise, barrel, and tuning.

try playing with your tuning and im sure you can make it quieter

ohh ps, you can tune dry fire settings that will quiet the gun right down while dry firing just put a lower dwell and decrease high pressure if i remember correctly. give it a try and see how it works out for ya

You should pick up a barrel muffler. I have one and it works great.

Ya it really didn't do **** except make it easier to turn the asa on.

I spoke to a Dye tech and he told me that the dm14 is designed to work with high pressure not low pressure and said he recommends I put the shims back into my tank and run it at 850-950psi instead of 450psi that I have it at now. This goes against everything people have said. He's the only person to tell me to run high pressure. He is a dye tech tho. Any thoughts???

I think a Dye Tech probably knows more about a DM than a thousand keyboard warriors!

The DM doesnt specifically need LP but it will still run. I always run what the manufacture suggests.

I would agree but I would think having a lower pressure would only reduce stress on the internal components. I am going to call dye again and ask a different tech the same question. That's the only person to ever tell me that

Why does it concern you so much that a DYE tech told you something different then randoms on the internet?

Read the owners manual and follow factory recommendations.

Because Ive been told the exact opposite from hundreds of other people on here, pros on the field who shoot the dm14, the tech at my local PB shop, the tech at ninja who made my tank and YouTube dm14 spec videos. Plus I have received conflicting advice/ info from different dye techs over the phone on other issues. I'm not saying he is wrong... I just want to hear it from a different dye tech than last time before I disregard everyone else's advise.

This issue is not mentioned in the owners manual.

The manual will recommend which pressure to use..

Honestly you can run whatever you want on it, it's your marker after all. Hell for all I care I'll recommend SHP to you.

Haha You have no clue what you are talking about. Do you even own a dm14?? The manual only says not to exceed 850psi. So thanks for your useless commentary.
