I have a hard time as seeing ranking up as a punishment or a bad thing. Serious teams are going to pay serious cash for serious events. PSP versus the local tournament field is like sex versus masterbation....yeah I get off which is the same end state, but sex is a whole lot more fun and a lot more rewarding and builds to something (either more sex or a relationship which leads to more sex) sure it may cost me some by paying for dates and what not, or registration fees and travel, but it's a whole lot better and makes me a lot better than just jerking my own pug

That's all well and good, but come talk to me when you and your friends have all ranked up out of D3 so you can't play a tournament together at all unless you drop $1k/each to travel to a PSP event. Eventually after years of playing (I've been competing in the PSP since 2006) you realize that your dreams of becoming a pro just aren't feasible and you accept the fact that you are playing paintball for no more reason than the fun of competing, it doesn't matter what level you're at. Rank ceases to matter, the venues cease to matter, you just want to play paintball with your friends - but you can't, cause no one can afford to keep playing at that level.

Believe me I know my actual tournament experience is non existent compared to others, I certainly wasn't trying come off as some grand master of knowledge, just trying to understand the view point and the reasoning

This my whole apprehension to the ranking system. Trade some good for some bad I suppose.

So have you thought of any dates? or talked to splatter park to see if they would let you? And have them fix the field!!!! And see if they would help REF. But i would love to play in one there, it doesn't have to be a great big thing just one that everything is in order and is fun. But yes could do a 3 or 5 man with my team, hope you get this thing rolling good luck.

If they had a tourny back at spatter park it would need to be ref'd by players (like Method use to do), it would be open division and would be for fun like the jams in the past. If we could get a few teams to switch off on reffing then I'm sure we could put something together. Toxic Rage would help ref, we do have a timer and buzzer system (Dave do you still have that? Haha)

Once again this would need to be casual and for fun. Go hard when you know competition is tough and have fun when playing a younger new group of kids (team).

^^ Yep.
Pick a date a month or so out that doesn't conflict with surrounding tournaments and then get it going.
Maybe get a few small trophies to handout as prizes to give that extra little something to push for.
Cleanup the field before play, get a scoreboard.
Teams rotate reffing.
Splatterpark wins on massive paint being shot.
What's the hold-up? Get it going LAX guy

I could probably get 2 or 3 teams there to play. Even just for fun. Grind sessions with other teams is always beneficial.

The Speedball field is a little run down. Would premium paint be available? What about changing the stigma for Splatterpark? 50-75 people travel an hour away or more to play at Xcape. If you were to start offering tournaments again, you would need to develop some system to cater to those players, so they feel like they are welcome. Currently only about 10-15 players show up at most to Open Plays. I'm not trying to "hate", only commenting on serious problems, as it's a lot easier on my checkbook to drive 30 minutes to play instead of 1 hour and 45 minutes.

EDIT: The field. I understand money is made off of rentals. But you will never get the populous that used to frequent Splatterpark if it doesn't start to be maintained.

No premium paint just SP paint. Sundays generally have a good turnout at Splatterpark for Open Play.

I started out playing at Splatterpark Jams and it's what got me into the sport. It was more laid back which will help younger/newer players not be so intimidated.

Has anybody talked to Sean about this? Lets pick some dates. Somebody start posting up dates that don't conflict with surrounding tournaments. Enough talk let's plan now.

Last weekend we had a little more than 10. Weekend before that, maybe 20.

Yeah If we can get some dates that don't conflict with msxl, psp, and/or any of the other regional events I'm sure teams would show. However, may want to make some exceptions to the field paint rule, or offer an event discount on paint since that can be a huge factor into who decides to participate.

Splatterpark field paint only and if you want a discount get a membership. They won't budge on that.

Tentative Dates:
June 29th
July 20th
August 17th
September 7th
