g4 won't shoot higher than 210-225 fps. also some techt l7 issues

I got a g4 off eBay, which was prlly my first mistake. At any rate I couldn't get higher than 225 fps. When I was cleaning my gun when I got home I notice some random *** washer in the regulator. I removed it and gassed it up. Still worked fine unfortunately I can't chrono to see what I'm getting at. Any advice.

Also I have a techt l7 bolt and when ever I gas it up and fire it the bolt rips out the middle o ring in the body. When I put the stock bolt in this doesn't happen.

I would definitely look up an online manual cause you shouldn't have a "random a** washer" in the regulator. Have you tried to reset the reg? Screw the velocity adjustment screw in all the way and turn it out 1/8th of a turn then fire and do this until you get your desired fps. As for the bolt issue, check to make sure that the bolt isn't damaged/defected from the factory or has a knick due to improper care and maintenance. Possibly call TechT and see if they'll do something about it. But no you didn't make a mistake buying it unless you don't perform regular maintenance on your marker. Since I've bought my Spec-R the only issue I had was user error and ever since I stopped doing that I haven't had a single issue with it.

Had this issue with a DM once. The shims in the reg had flattened out and would not let me get the required pressure to reach up to 300fps. I bought new shims from dye and put them in the reg and it fixed my problem. That may be why they had a washer in it.

Since you had a random one, make sure the others are in there correctly. Should look like this

)()()()(

Or does that have the spring reg?

G4 is a spring reg. G3 has shims.

Thanks guys. I'll try all these things. If it doesn't work I'll just buy a new reg. Think I should get another g4 reg or maybe just go with a cp or something? Any suggestions.

Might just take the reg apart and give it the once over before spending a bunch on a new reg. Might just be dirty and need some love . Oh and if you are using the stock DP lube, trash it and put some good Dow33 on it

I put a G4 reg on my Spec-R so I recommend staying with it, they're good regs. Definitely take the reg apart while watching the DP reg maintenance video or looking at a manual and see if you need to rebuild it with new o-rings or not. Make sure to clean it and lube it really good with Dow33 or some other kind of lube other than the DP lube like Gargoyle said.

You could buy all the internal parts from dp for pretty cheap and rebuild your reg instead of buying a new one.

Yea either rebuild it or put another G4 reg on it.
