Milling requests

So I sent emails to several of the recommended milling resources and have gotten zero responses. So I'm just going to post this here.

I have a 1/2" aluminum round bar I'd like to get lathed down to 15/32" to use as a custom pump guide on a project.

Also I have CAD models for a custom delrin pump handle and hitman mod I'd like to look into having milled also.

Just wondering if anyone has the ability to do this kind of work. I'd like to keep it local to metro-detroit if possible but if I have to send it somewhere that might be my only option.

Hit me up with any helpful info.

Thanks PBS,
John

I would've recommended Cliff (cs900), but I don't think he's taking new work. SuperStauncy is another that comes to mind. There is another guy m98custom1212 or something like that who offers machining, but I haven't been able to close the loop with him myself. If you do find someone, please let me know your source... I'm looking too.

I tried to message Stanchy on MCB and his inbox was full. Some reading in his milling thread there leads me to believe he might be a little over booked.

The thing that's funny is we have a small shop at work and I can do 90% of what I need done my self...we just don't have a damn lathe! lol

The search continues! :-)

Ah...well that would explain it! lol

I was going to message you here too but I didn't want to be a nag if you were over booked.

Does any of this stuff sound like things you might be interested in?

Here a link to thread that has some pics of the pump handle and hitman mod I have in mind: http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=4080133

Yup. Let me double check that the 1/2" diameter rod will fit the pump handle design.

It would end up being a 1/2" aluminum rod with a 15/32-32 thread on one end and just a 45 chamfer on the other end. I'll get you full specs tomorrow when I'm at work.

On a totally different topic.... Are you accepting barrels for freak boring? I have a cp back I'm looking to get done.

I definitely understand that this might not be cheap. I've already submitted both mill parts to a company we use to do this kind of stuff through work. It was insanely expensive. So I'm just trying to get an idea of whether or not those kinds of prices are the norm or it's because they're a fast turn prototype shop.

Okay I'll PM you the details tomorrow.

Did you ever figure out the o-ring deal for freak inserts or is it just a slip fit?

Pretty much the norm..unless you have some guy in his basement making stuff on manual machines.

Yea, I can do it manually. It's just a time investment. Looks like that's the way I'll have to go.

I have looked everywhere online for 15/32" aluminum rod stock and couldn't find it anywhere. If you happen to know of somewhere I can get it please let me know! lol

Mind you I'd like to stay in 6061 or 6063 for mechanical properties and anodizing properties.
