New Ninja Super Light Tank and V2 ProReg--now with pictures from Extravaganza! Video!

Ninja Paintball is showing off the lightest tank we have ever seen here in the States. These 68 cui tanks are DOT certified and noticeably lighter than any other domestic tank, but they still don't need to be hydrotested for a full 5 years. The amazing part is Ninja made the tank 30% lighter and the liner is still aluminum.

The attached V2 ProRegs also have a very cool ball bearing instead of a pin.

Hopefully they make these in 77/45's so I can get one of them! Like the feel of a 77 over a 68

Hasn't their been multiple companies trying to do this for a while? Stako and others? They could never get Dot approved right. What did they do different? I mean I believe Ninja will actually get this product out just interested how they get around the traditional bottle weight.

IIRC Stakos have an elastic and/or permeable liner inside and has some dynamic function internally. They have to be filled twice or slowly or something of the sort, not slam-filled like American tanks. I'm guessing these new Ninja tanks are designed to work the same way as the old tanks, not like the Stakos.

edit: also, the pic from the front page isn't in this thread, so here it is for those who have /forum.php bookmarked like I do:

doen't the DOT approval hinge on the materials used? e.g. if it's steel or aluminum it could get it but not if it's CF? or have I completely misunderstood?

wouldn't mind rehydroing it every 5 yrs anyhow, just to be on the safe side when putting +1L of 4500psi air next to my pretty face.

the V2 proregs ntrigues me however quite much.

Stakos have liner made of plastic. And have been certified in Europe.
The lightest 68 tank(~1lb 7oz) is made by Chezh company Armotech. It has steel liner and haven't been DOT certified too.

Do we have any actual weight measurements?

I want to know how much of a difference we are talking about.

Very exciting none the less.

We have been using the (Armotech manufactured) 68/4500 Fuel Supralite bottles for well over a year now in the UK & mainland Europe and at 650grams (without a reg) the bottle is a massive weight saving over the heavier type traditional bottles.

If the Ninja bottles are anything like the style/weight of Fuel Supralite bottles then you guy's are going to love them.

That's my question as well. I prefer using 45 ci tanks and my current choice is Crossfire SS. How's the new Ninja 68 compare and will they make a 45 out of the same material?
