I don't know. $32 million is a lot of guaranteed money and the fact that the contract is back heavy it is going to be hard to trade him if he doesn't reach his potential. I really hope he succeeds though

they potentially have him for 7 yrs and less than 60mil total. If he stays healthy, that's an absolute steal. The two option years are for 12.5 and 13.5 too, so its really not that bad considering they paid Gavin Floyd like 11 last year and are paying danks about that now.

Probably closer to 75. They really should deal Sale.
Who said he needed it?

I forgot about the contract. Still, I don't see him staying healthy, nor do I see the White Sox as being good in the next 2 years.

I didn't. However, his drop in slugging may be indicitive that he doesn't have the power that playing in Milwakee would have led you to believe he did.

Also:

Mark Bowman ‏@mlbbowman 7m Beachy and Medlen are both scheduled to be evaluated by Dr. James Andrews on Monday

Would all the people who claimed that the Braves handled Medlen's comeback from TJS better than the Nats' handling of Strasburg please stand up. It's time for you to eat crow.

Barves season over before it started. Beachy and Medlen most likely headed for their 2nd Tommy John surgeries.

The Braves like to run their players into the ground

I'm glad someone else can see the obvious. Got in to a discussion (argument with a Barves fan) about how Beachy, Medlen, and Venters have been overworked and the Braves pushed them back from rehab.

Beachy's first rehab starts:

Game 1: 70 pitches
Game 2: 5 innings, 18 batters faced
Game 3: 80 pitches
Game 4: 94 pitches
Game 5: 69 (in three innings)

Strasburg's first 5:

Game 1: 1.2 innings, 8 batters faced
Game 2: 3 innings, 12 batters
Game 3: 1.2 innings, 11 batters
Game 4: 3 innings, 14 batters
Game 5: 64 pitches

Let's take a look at the pitch counts in their first five major league rehab starts:

Pitcher A: 84, 98, 99, 81, 86
Pitcher B: 56, 57, 61, 75, 79

Pitcher A: Beachy
Pitcher B: Strasburg

I don't know if it's because of the new coaching staff or what. Once Bobby Cox left things kind of fell off. Development of Uggla and B.J Upton were awful

Uggla and Upton were what they were. While I don't expect them to be so putrid next season, I don't expect either of them to have career years.

But these were young, build a dynasty around type arms. Beachy was just as good as Strasburg. Medlen was like Zimmermann. Minor and Tehran also have the ability to be damn good and Alex Wood is a nice 4/5.

Sadly I'm a Mariners fan. I hate getting excited over two wins and Smoak actually hitting the ball.

What, you don't think Smoak will maintain that .500/.556/1.125 line?

ew id never be a fan of anything out of that northern kentucky city. i dont mind the reds but i do not like the city and loathe the bungels.

plus im from 4 hours north of cinci. i finished my undergrad at UD, hence the avvy for the NCAA tourny. i did go to a bunch of dragons games...i guess that is reds support?

I am already loving Choo. Sadly, I don't know how well we'll end up doing simply because of our pitching. Outside of Perez, the other 4 guys we're rolling out right now don't exactly put a lot of confidence in fans.

If we could ever get healthy then our rotation would look nice which would boost our pen. Darvish + Holland + Perez + Harrison + Lewis would be nice.
