Question Any insight on tippmann mag fed

Tippmann keeps giving out hints they are working on their own mag fed system. Anyone know when this is going to come out, any one have leaked pics or info?

Paintball extravaganza at the end of the month will be when they release information on it.

It is .68 cal, not .50 cal. It is a rifle, it is cool, and you will want one...

I would love to see an easier way to switch from mag fed to hopper fed and a better box mag!

Amen to that. There are so few magfed guns that are not AR15's. And I freaking love bullpups so much, if Tippmann released one I'd order it within the hour.

My guess:

Mech. Crossover internals (eyes, modes via optional battery) would be far better but not holding breath.

Propietary magazine system. It would be far better for them to use an existing magwell compatible system, but the cynic in me thinks that's unlikely.

AR style. You really think they'd do a bullpup? Lol. If they're really on the ball they'd build one with a modular trigger unit that can go bullpup or not, but don't count on it. If so it would have to be electro.

No airstock. Pretty much just guessing here. It seems like not Tippmanns style.

Pretty well designed. Tippmanns rarely have major bugs out the box (besides the old cyclone feeds). Expect it to be solidly thought out and easy to use.

Maintenance. Unsure about this one. If it's an FT-12 style flip top or has some super easy way to clean the breach and magwell then that would be awesome. Not holding breath.

Generic looks. Not a specific RS clone at all. That wouldn't be their style anyway, and would cause issues.

FS compatible. Nobody releasing a new magfed would be dumb enough to not support FS out the box, and Tippmann aint dumb.

An smg style would be possible, especially if they utilize zetamag support. It would be unique, too, which would be nice. Plus, not doing the airstock like you're predicting would keep it light.

Agree with vigils post, don't expect something too different from Tippmann, they likely use most in house parts for this.It will keep their cost down and reliability the same.
I think they'd make their own mags too,why give money to your competition.
Knowing Tippmann they'd be more rugged than most out on the market
Zeta mags are probably a no go,just got one last week and noticed that there's Milsig emblems on the package
I can see this coming in several different "trim" levels.Basic mech, electro using XVR parts, maybe even a high end spoolie using GI gun parts
Still hoping they 're release the SMG68 myself

There are actually pretty good reasons to go with an existing mag system. *Short term* you can make more money from a closed system (think Apple Mac and iPhone) but what tends to happen longer term is that the open systems start to gain market foothold due to their convenience and multiple system compatibility (think Windows and Android). With Mac, that all but killed them. It's currently very gradually chewing into iPhone's market dominance though in that case Apple probably made the right move even if they are eventually forced to support android. I give it five to ten years.

So it's a long/short term gains tradeoff. Whether or not they go with an open system really comes down to their long term strategy.

My *dream* tippmann magfed would look something like this:

Crossover internals. Want mech? Cool. Want eyes and modes? Also cool.

Flip top maintenance. Ideally couple with an easy way to field strip. Generally easy on maintenance.

Dmag and FS compatible. It's the standard. If you don't like dmags, make a higher quality or Ufeed version that fits the same magwell. If there are licencing issues, take the lead and release a good open platform that anyone can base designs on.

Airstock compatible. If you don't release your own, make it accept others.

Modular. This would probably force it to be electro, but being able to move the trigger assembly to the front bullpup style would be massive for sales.

HAHAHA FUNNY JOKE!!! RAP4's 468 STOMPS the m17. Yea one could say the m17 is all cool cause it has mechanical full auto, but honestly unless you're using a box mag you'll blow through your mags, and even with a box mag it won't last long. I wanted the M17 and was waiting to buy the 468 because I wanted the M17. Got the 468, and believe me, it smashes the M17.

What is significantly better than it? Also, M17 hasn't been released yet, how do you know how it performs?

Check out my instagram if you want to see a leaked pic of the new Tippmann mag fed...

Trailsofdoom

Not sure if it is legit or not... It was on Behind the Bunker tonight and it looks like it is based on the 98 custom with a hopper or magfed capability.

Interesting...... If that's legit, I'm excited. I really like the minimalist style if that magfed, sikhs make it affordable, light weight, and customizable.

Agreed. Looks just like the MKV kit.

I seriously hope Tippmann wouldn't be so cheap as to just release their own version of the MKV kit.
