We have always been a "no coaching" league... so what do you think we should do for 2014? Continue the encouragement of individual and team skills without sideline coaching or allow sideline coaching and let the crowd be apart of the game?
No coaching at any level. It’s a local tournament. People play locals because they’re convenient and it’s easy to put together a team of 3 or 5 guys for a local tournament. Allowing coaching gives teams something else they need to organize before the event and a possible reason to not sign up if they can’t find a coach.
I think coaching should be allowed. considering GPL/MAPL is already using PSP based rules and the PSP based ranking system, they should allow PSP style coaching. The Pro division is the only one thats not allowed to coach and thats new this year. I dont understand why so many people have a problem with it. I don't hear people complaining about it at PSP events.
Some say dont allow it in lower divisions as they are still learning etc. I think thats the reason it should be allowed. The teams are still "learning". Their communication may not be as good and coaching helps relay info across the field. I think too many people see coaching as just joysticking a snake player down the tape. Its not. There is much more to it than that. Also, it really sucks sitting in s2 shooting inside and getting your back blown up with no notice. A coach can "protect" newer players.
All in all, my main point is that the PSP allows coaching. The GPL/MAPL follow pretty much all PSP rules, so they should follow this one as well. Plus....I hate attending events where fans are expected to be quite....It really makes it hard to get people interested in watching
