RAP4 Releases 30rd DMag

As always with RAP4, after many false release dates, they have finally released their 30rd DMags. For those who are unfamiliar with the DMags, they are polymer .68cal mags sold by RAP4 which are compatible with their magfed markers, and the MKV conversion kits (provided you have a DMag magwell). Unlike RAP4's standard mags costing a nice $37 dollars per mag, the DMags are incredibly cheap. The 20rd DMags are just over $5 a piece. The only down side to the DMags is that unlike the standard and Scarab Arms mags, the DMags are stacked. This means that if you have a 20rd DMag, the mag doesn't have a continuous feed of 20rds, but instead it has two stacks of 10rds. So essentially after every ten shots, you have to pull the mag out, spin it, and put it back in. However again, they are insanely cheap. The other downside to the DMags is that they are straight, where as the standard and Scarab Arms mags are curved. This makes for a visually longer, larger mag. That's why it is shocking to some to see that RAP4 would release the 30rd DMag. While it enables you to fire 15 consecutive shots, it also doubles as a monopod.

You can view RAP4's 30rd DMags on their site, Facebook, and Youtube.

So basically the 30rd is pointless.

What about using FS rounds? With the other DMags you had to move up one spring size for them to work correctly (20rd spring in 14rd mag, 30rd spring in 20rd mag, etc). even if we wanted to use one of these, would we have to wait for a heavier spring for FS?

Yeah they're big, but I'd use them since I'm not super fussed about the accurate milsim look, and 10+10 is lame. Would wait for the continuous 20s but you know what rap4 are like with release dates and promises.

True on both accounts. I don't really care about the super real look either. My MK5 doesn't have a shroud or stock.

But the 30s seem too big to comfortably carry them on a chest rig or vest

I was thinking they might fit a standard pod pouch, maybe even two to a pouch? Worth a shot, especially since they sell a pack with all three sizes to try things out.

I don't know. They look to be about a 1.5 pods long. So if you have them on your chest they'd be awkward to pull, if you have them on your back they'd either stick out too much (horizontal) or be all stabby in your back.

I suppose. use mostly 20s and carry a couple 30s for when it gets thick I guess.

Done some measuring using my 20s dmags and some photos and they'll work out around 28cm (11 inches) long, 11.5 if I'm generous. A 20rnd dmag is right on 8 inches. A typical 140 rounder is 10.5 inches and sometimes longer. That seems pretty doable to me. Two per pouch should be feasible though I'd probably use a speedball style ejection harness with just one per pouch.

I wonder how one of these things compares to a vertical 12oz tank.

These are ridiculous. If nothing else, they're just impractical. Want to go prone for that long shot? Too bad. The magazine will hit the ground before you ever will. Also, imagine trying to sneak through brush with these things. I have enough problems with zetamags, and they're half this length.

edit: I mean that the part that protrudes is half the length, not the total.

Not even practical because of its long length.
