Before you check out these pics, please don’t take a hacksaw to your gun and start whacking away. I’m by no means a professional machinist and there’s definitely a risk involved with doing something like this.
With that being said - I wanted to put a Vanquish on a diet and do a “light” version of one. I figured I’d take off the top line to the feed neck and then take off where it protrudes past the back of the body and well as take off both lines on the front of the gun. With some other slight slimming, this is what I came up with.
I took it into Photoshop first so I could visualize what I wanted to do..
I did all of this with a grinder, a file and different grades of sandpaper. That's definitely not the quickest way, but it gave me a lot of control in the process and helped me minimize my risk of ruining a $1,500 gun. Caustic Custom Anodizing did a great job doing the final polish and anodizing the marker, I'd definitely recommend them for your future anodizing projects.
It weighs 27.8oz now without a barrel or battery. The Pbnation review video has the stock one weighing in at 30.55 ounces.
