No wonder i couldn't see F1 cars, or shuttles during launch.

Trust me, as a spectator, you can see lanes during a breakout much better with neon shells than the stealth colors now.

Except the yellow stands out against the black nets and you can see the lanes from the side very well.

As a referee, I fully support this. I would also like to see it go to every division, not just Pro Race-to-7. Doing just pro would present problems when teams are buying paint as now the guys working the paint trucks have to worry about giving out two different color shells and limiting who they give dark shell to. Much prefer to see this for all divisions of play.

EDIT: Wow..... Year old thread... Whoops. Oh well. At least I didn't revive it!

Even if it is a old thread, This is probably the best idea I have seen when it comes to good changes to the game. As a old half blind spectator I have never been able to see the paint flying. A bright neon Yellow shell would surely make it easier to see and if it was mandatory that makes it a even playing field.

I think that one issue for some teams would be telling the paint grades apart after they open the cases since some teams will shoot four star in pods and put imperial in their hopper for break shooting, but a simple star on the logo could fix that quite easily and it is something they already have the ability to do. Print a black start for imperial, blue for four star, etc. Or just the number of stars all dragon ball z like.

just shoot the best and shoot evil, then you don't have to worry about different grades at the event

The issue is not the paint quality or what is "the best"... Its knowing that when you dive into the snake a little harder than you like, you don't have to field medic your hopper to get all the broken paint out of it because you had ultra brittle paint in the hopper.

Seeing it in Hi-def, with a videographer FOCUSED on catching the paint streams, and then comparing that to the webcast angles are apples and oranges.

Viewers might catch a glance or two of where a player is shooting, but the cameras aren't trying to portray the ways players shoot.. they are trying to catch the action of the game as a whole. Players moving and switching sides of the bunker are what they are primarily looking for.

not if everyone is shooting bright neon shells (akin to old 2009 ultra evil).
It is very easy to see the paint flying in the air through the net. even if its just a blur its better than seeing nothing at all.

Fixed that for you.

This really seems like a no-brainer idea. I'm kind of surprised it hasn't gained more traction.

Although I would support this idea of the pros using bright shell, I don't see any pro team being the leader in this respect. The bright shell is a disadvantage, but it becomes moot if everyone is required to do so. It may not make the edited videos any more impressive, but it would live viewing more relevant.

I think the PSP should just make the MSC a rule. Then all the paint at the event has the same color. Done.

Agree. They already lowered ROF, put a bouncy house at the back line (penalty box) just for pros, require matching uniforms, display of numbers, etc, why not this?

I wonder if the pros prefer the stealth colored shells over neon shells...

I personally don't have a preference over either shell color only as long as both teams are shooting the same type.

Ive never spoken to anyone who doesn't prefer dark shell for playing. Its hard to dodge a ball you cant see. I do think this is a good idea though. Seems like it would make it more spectator friendly.

I agree. Lately now all I see is dark shelled paint. I agree that if every pro team was required to shoot the bright colored paint, it would make spectating and videos much more appealing as well as make it slightly tougher at the pro level.

I miss the Good Ol Days of yellow/red tiger striped shell Severe Cyclone.

i can because it's paintball. Everything in our sport is backwards and too late.

I like it but no one will change because you want to shoot the darkest shell possible but the brightest possible being shot at you. Just make it mandatory neon yellow of allstar paintball had

I like the idea! The shell color is like a night and day difference as far as what you can see. That would make it a lot more fun for the fans if they could actually see the paint in the air.
