Pick up used parts and a flat bed trailer off Craigslist. How much hp are you looking for?

You're not going to get 300whp out of that without boost, nitrous, or some very, very extremely expensive work.

Then start saving money for a swap rather than spending a bunch of money here and there on things that won't do much for you.

You would be better off just saving your money and swapping it out honestly. B16/B18/B20 are easy to come by and make better power than what you have now and also have a lot of room for upgrades. If this is your daily driver I would just recommend doing a basic to mild setup so it is somewhat still reliable and fun to drive.

i've had friends with ~350whp turbo'd D's, done right and done cheap. but IMO, you could pick up even an LS and boost it for pretty damn close to the same price.

On my way to work about 20 minutes ago my motor ceased while i was doing about 55. i pulled right over and my reservoir was overflowing. My car wont run, but it still turns over. My oil sure looks pretty all full of sparkles. Im going to just throw a b7 in it and call it a day.

As already mentioned, find yourself a B18a and boost it. The compression ration on the B18a is damn near perfect for boost and you can reliably get around 250 whp out of it in stock form.

Don't waste your time, get a b series. I'd go b20 with a gsr head. Then later in life turbo it.

Well i looked for a b series for a while and found a bunch of blown overboosted trash motors. I couldnt afford to buy one and have it shipped, so i'm rebuilding the zc. I found out i had spun bearings and a couple of bent valves and a bent rod. All new stuff with headwork and block redone cost me about 500$. My ef is too hashed to bother making it anything more than the pizza delivery vehicle it is.

so apparently the machine shop sold me bearings that were too thick, caused premature failure. in the past few weeks i've been having issues with my ignition system, burning through ICMs left and right. i rebuilt a minime b2/a6 head for delivery duty, and cant time it for crap. i was running about 45 degrees off time. anyway, as i was working with my friend to try and correct my timing with a timing light, another one of my ICMs blew, and i had to tow it home. stuck an oem NEC ignitor in, ran great for five minutes. shut it down, went and got my timing light, and it refused to start again. checked the ignitor, and its blew. do you have any idea why i keep burning them out? all my grounds are attached, clean and tight, and my dizzy wiring is correct.

also, if i decide to completely bypass the ICM and run an MSD box, could my ignition system potentially burn out the MSD box too?
