I would have rather seen Kingman die... Their products are absolute trash. More than 80% of the guns we fix at our store are Syders, newer ones included. I find it funny how they call us weekly asking if they've seen their new products. Yes, we have. In pieces on our tech desk. Azodin is right behind them in this regard. And they're not even priced for their quality. Spend the extra 50 bucks (for some models) and get a mini, extcy (any of the new Ions basically) or an E1.

IMO, it has nothing to do with the manufacturer, but the design. You have two hardened steel parts catching each other under super high pressure (both pneumatic and spring), in a gun that is supposed to retail for sub $150. I haven't seen someone "nail" that design yet.

The Piranha markers did it pretty well. Better tolerances and they did not shake themselves apart constantly. The larger hammer is a big part of why. It could run a softer spring and use the wieght to open the poppet and the larger surfaced hammer face require less air pressure to recock it.

everyone think its a great idea for KEE to acquire these companies, well if they buy all these companies. where are the small paintball companies at? WGP was their own company, JT was their own company, and BT use to be owned by Ben Tippmann. sooner or later this industry will be owned and operated by one company and it'll be a monopoly

Can't say I've ever shot one, or really checked out any of the PMI products--didn't seem like they really made it out to the West Coast too often. I mostly use PMI as a means of making fun of John.

There are much better things to harass John about. PMI was a great company in spite of having Dresser with them.

But the design is a/the manufacturers manifestation is it not? Your right though, nobody has nailed it.but kingman has no excuse.they had enough time to evolve or redesign to catch up to standards to stay marketable or maintain some sort of market grounds and put out a product that people would enjoy without too much issues.just a simple basic entry level solid working gun.its not hard to do.enough time as in like 20 years!! Awell to them.

Imo they were lucky to be aquired and should appreciate kee for throwing them money for a product with horrible reputation with no market share and no brand loyalty.that takes guts and goodluck to key for future improvements to fit and function and a swift re-entry attempt back into a stacked entry level market.they must have something planned

I remember my second marker. The Electra DX. Played with it one day and got rid of it. POS shook the screws loose within 4 games. It was so bad the marker would shoot like it was on full auto due to the sear not being able to re-engage the hammer.
Many here are right. Kingman has sunk......FAR. I remember when Kingman was still a great beginner company for players. But know Inoften forget that they even still exist. Maybe KEE can help them regain some of the respect they have lost.

Piranah was made with love. Who remembers the splash annos and clear barrels?

Was a lovely first marker for me back in 02. That's why I'm on John's D.

We actually had someone out here playing a couple of weeks ago with the clear barrel.

We still have a rental rack full of old Piranha guns. Most are 10 years old and still work great and are very reliable and easy to maintain. And renters are tuffer on gear then any normal player.

This is very interesting. I've been reading some of these threads and I got to defend Kingman. I've had nothing but great service from these people. From sales, tech service, accounting, etc....everyone's nice and very professional (Lou, Chung, Joe, Mike, Rich, Chris, etc)! Yes, MAP policy should be enforced and I do believe these online whore sellers are devaluing Kingmans brand overall but......it is what it is. Either way - I wish them much success even during these difficult times!

Lets not forget also the sear issues with the first batch of pirahna. I was working in a store back when we received a bag of sears to replace chipped or even broken sears in pirahna. That aside there are some good people without jobs soon. Good luck to them.

Cool to see really. From what I've heard of Kingman's CS lately. This will be a shot in the arm. I hope they revive the quality of the 90's early 00s of Spyder. I still have my first Spyder Xtra I bought in 2000 and its reliable.

Paintball News Rules
  1. No Upping threads. If you have something to say, please do, but don't post in the thread just to take it to the top of the forum.
  2. Do not post "1st post", "1st", "First post" or anything similar (or with any other number) at any point in a thread, even if you post a comment too. It is really annoying and it will result in a ban.
  3. If you don't like something, say why instead of just calling it ugly, lame, gay or any other name. If it is old, simply post a link or report the post with a link to the older News thread.
