Notice there is no quick release back cap or fancy milling. So there are still pros to getting the GSL over the Geo 3.1.
I don't know where you've been. But the SL66 was not like the SL74. SL74 was not like the ego8. The SL8r was definitely not like an ego9. Sl94 similar to ego10. SLs not similar to ego11. CSL was the finally of the Ego as we knew it...so it is nothing like the LV1. You need to learn more about the SL line.

Then pick your marker up and like magic the recoil is virtually non existent!!!! The only reason I would get a GSL over a 3.1 is to get the SL just cuz it's an SL. I like the rarity and the pure color is ridiculously amazing!!!! They are all still great guns so pick your favorite and go paint faces!!!!
That's the one thing I could never grasp about paintball players! Kick! where? To me .223/556 has little to no kick. Let them shoot a 12g or 30/30. I understand that it's a different medium (platform) but I wouldn't call it kick or recoil. Smoothness of shot ok. Not trying to bash anyone but there is a big difference.
As for the smoothness of the gsl, from what the specs read it seems like it may have only been efficiency that they improved on. With that said I have yet to shoot one or read any reviews to know for certain. To be honest the extras that come with the gsl more than make up for the price difference even without the upgraded internals.

decent rant but saying the sl74 was nothing like an ego8 is pretty incorrect.

Well I own an SL74, it shares less similarities to the ego 8 as the sl94 to the ego10. That is what my point is

I was an outspoken hater of this grip when I first saw it on the LV1. Since then I now own an LV1. It is a genius design, and glad to see it on the GEO.

I think many that hate it would change their tune if they actually tried it as well. I didn't like the look at first either. But it's grown on me since I first saw it on the LV1. And it feels great.

Listen man. Everything that can be done to improve a player is welcome.
Kick in paintball plays a different point. In normal rifles and pistols, you can take in kick with bases/bipods/parade slings/ect. You also usually use semi as well as timed rounds to be able to shot. In a tournament, you're shooting basically the equivalent to automatic/cyclic rate of a firearm on a paintball gun. Kick matters here.

And don't even put in those real life situations crap. The only time I've seen someone empty magazine on magazine in a firefight is when it was their first firefight. Most of the time, you carefully aim when you can, and shoot a few hammer or controlled pair.

I get irritated with home physicists and musclemen. If paintball ever goes big, there will be sports/physic engineers to actually study which position is better to get off of the starting box, barrel length and so such. It's going to be like golf. Only recently did engineers really took a look at what can be done to make a ball fly further. Hopefully the same will be done in paintball if the sport can somehow make itself into a more professional setting.

Until then, I will leave me two cents.

Why the **** did we change the Geo3?! It was SO smooth and sleek looking!
Now it looks like a bag of rubber-***.

Can't you just take the rubber on the reg off though?

I guess it doesn't look that great that way, and IDK if there's matching anno underneath (might just be black on all markers idk), but it is an option. As someone else mentioned above, I wasn't a huge fan of the rubber looks when they first came out with the LV1, but I think it looks fine now.

The paintball engineers have been around and actually figured out much of the stuff you mentioned. It's already been determined the optimal length needed for a paintball to reach its velocity (8" of unported barrel). As for the paintball flying further, they figured out that a back spin works best over a decade ago.

As for marker kick, they actually tend to kick less when fired rapidly. That has at least my my perception/experience. Pressure produced from the firing seems to stay consistent as opposed to shooting sporadically.

As for the rubber on the Geo 3....I don't agree with your opinion here. I think it is a welcome change. But then that is only my opinion

I have seen more Luxes/Geos/Egos with tape or after market grips put on them than without. At least this rubber was specifically designed for these markers and not a generic or afterthought grip. One thing that frustrates me with my Axe or Luxe is the slippery fore grip after getting shot. I think this will please more Geo owners than not.

Pretty damn ugly without the grip... I guess preference would dictate if you want to wrap that reg with grip tape and go to town lol

So, it seems that the 3.1 and 3 differences (entire frame) are not compatible. This makes me somewhat unhappy.
