The tips look an awful lot like the type that comes on the Sniper/Resurrection kit.

One benefit is that, like with single bore barrels, if you do get a break, it's easier to shoot it clear with a few shots because they'll squeegee out the inside of the barrel due to the tighter fit.

If you want an even better fit than the five control bores offer, you can get the Freak back and use any standard Freak insert with it.

Small steps on the overbore size are totally silly....but on the underbore side, they make a bit of sense, since there seems to be a sweet spot at underboring by .005. More options helps you hit the sweet spot better with varying paint.

My *perfect* barrel kit would be .676, .679, .682, and one of .689 or .691.

.689/.691 handles all your overbore needs, and you have 3 choices to try to hit the sweet spot if you wish to underbore.

I approve of this message.

When I examine new barrel kits, I always have to balance my desire for longer control bores with the desire to get a perfect fit. Usually I err on the side of fit. I have like 11 SS freak bores available, but I never reach for anything above a .682. My .675 and my .677 are some of my most used bores.

Not to imply Simon wouldn't have come to it on his own, but "smaller ports and lots of them to make it quiet" is what Lurker has been doing for years. Cool barrel design, but I suppose I'll stick with an eigenbarrel.

I don't see where he says he was the only one to do this. But to each their own. I can't wait to get my hands on this barrel kit.

What's up with the huge tips? Why not just make one without threading instead of having them threaded for flash hiders?

Is there any plans to release a front without the tip option? I like the idea of the different sized front bores, the long control bore, and all the porting but I think the tip option just adds weight.

Agreed, I just don't like the way the tip looks, but all of the other features look promising.

It's actually lighter to have the tip removable then to have any specific style machined in as one piece.

The beauty of removable tips is that I can do many different styles for people that like different things.

One thing that was very clear when I was researching to do this barrel is that people like the tip of the barrel to look different ways for different reasons or different uses.

This way I can make options for everyone. And because it's removable I can do it in a very affordable and easy to try way without someone having to pay for the cost of a sized front again.

Heck, I could even do custom runs of tips for a team look/style/event/etc.

I am even looking to open source the CAD for the important dimensions for the tip so that people can make or design their own.

Wouldn't it be lighter to run the same OD but without the threads? I find it difficult to aim on barrels with a hump near the tip. Maybe it's my terrible eyesight, but having to put a tip on would make it more difficult.

This. I prefer a barrel that does not flare at the end like the UL but is uniform to the end like the Shift, Disruptive, Furious, Shaft, etc.

Paintball News Rules
  1. No Upping threads. If you have something to say, please do, but don't post in the thread just to take it to the top of the forum.
  2. Do not post "1st post", "1st", "First post" or anything similar (or with any other number) at any point in a thread, even if you post a comment too. It is really annoying and it will result in a ban.
  3. If you don't like something, say why instead of just calling it ugly, lame, gay or any other name. If it is old, simply post a link or report the post with a link to the older News thread.
