PSP 2nd Event Info
The schedule for the 2004 season has been changed. The 2nd series event will be played at the Disney Sports Complex in Kissimmee, FL instead of Las Vegas, NV. The event dates are April 28th - May2nd
The contact from City of Las Vegas informed me on Friday that the city would no longer be willing to allow us to play paintball on any grassed areas. Being that there is so little grass in the area, it is difficult to find suitable playing areas. And with these grassed area being so rare, the price of most is not within our means.
Rather than take 6 weeks to TRY to find an area that is available, suited for the event, and affordable, I have decided to go ahead and take advantage of the offer proposed by the Disney Sports Complex. This allows me to avoid a position of not being certain of where we will be playing until days before the event.
I am now looking into finding areas for the 4th event. I am looking in the Denver and Portland areas. As soon as I get more info, I will post it into the news section of www.pspevents.com.
The Disney deal is a long-term deal that will alleviate the problem of finding venues for several years to come. We will hopefully be having the 2nd event, as well as the World Cup on Disney property for the next few years. It seems that the success of the 2003 World Cup has opened Disney’s eyes to the potential tournament paintball has to offer. We look forward to a relationship that will be beneficial to PSP, Disney, and the tournament players.

Guys, when we had tournaments in cow pastures, desert canyons, and at the owners paintball fields, we could pick and choose dates. But the teams said that wasn't good enough.
The players are the ones who wanted us to go to these busy and high priced venues, and then they complain about the costs, the dates that are available, and whether they can bring food and drink into the venues they "made" us move to.
It's VERY frustrating.
Disney Sports Complex is the home of the Atlanta Braves spring training. The only dates we could get were the ones we took. No matter what dates I choose, it conflicts with someones schedule. I do the best I can.
Think about this. When choosing a venue and dates, I have to consider --
Weather for the region at the time we're there
Surface of the venue
Cost of the venue
Costs of Rental Eqpt in Area
Flight Costs
Hotel Costs
Proximity to airport and hotels
school schedule (college and high schools)
***finals
***spring break
***summer break
The list goes on
Then I have people who have called, and ACTUALLY want me to change the dates because they are doing inventory that week and can't get off work, or their cousins baby is due that week, or it's their grandmothers 75th birthday, etc, etc, etc, etc.
I do the best that I can see when taking all things into consideration. The one thing that PSP could do a better job of is having the dates and venues finalized earlier. I am going to try to do that. I hope to have all 2005 dates and venues under contract before the World Cup. At least then people who can make plans will have real info to make the plans around.

From a purel abjective view point here in the UK, it seems that you (Lane) are doing a great job, it makes me laugh that people complain to the extent they do sometimes over dates, but you cant win them all over!
