Oh it's definitely more expensive to play. Airsoft is only expensive initially while you're buying all of your gear. Once you've got everything, you're really only paying for BB's, which are a lot less expensive than paintballs. I can get 10,000+ BB's for less than I pay for 2,000 paintballs.

how much longer do to the bb's last than paintballs? or do you shoot more of the bb's than you would paintballs in an average day? i have like a pod and a half of .2 airsoft bb's here and another pod of .12 bb's that have been sitting around since my friends and i used to just mess around with them. good thing they store and last a lot better than paintballs lol

Oh, I shoot a lot less in airsoft than I would in paintball. Airsoft is about stealth and tactics for me, so I'm not shooting unless I'm likely to hit my target. In paintball, half of the time you're shooting just to lock down a lane, not necessarily to hit another player. As far as how long they store for, there's no shelf life on them like there is with paintballs. I mean, they're made of plastic, lol.

alright, i wasn't sure if you just lay down tons of fire or not for people to move like in paintball or not. but the shelf life is killer lol. i have thought about getting an airsoft gun but i know id just use it around the house and then the cops would just get called consistently

There are occasions when you may need to lay down covering fire for someone, but it doesn't necessarily have to be in full-auto. You could always stay in semi-auto and just spam the trigger, or even do short bursts in full-auto. Even still, you'll shoot a lot less than you will in paintball.

Honestly, if you're interested in airsoft, check and see if there are any fields in your area. If there are, see if they have rentals available and go for a day to see if you like it. If you do, then you can start looking into getting gear of your own. It's so much fun.

You could still do that. So long as you don't cover the orange tip, the cops can't really do anything.

I'm trying to figure out what all of my stuff is worth...

A part of me wants to keep it, but another and perhaps bigger part of me knows that it's not worth it. I'll likely never really be able to play consistently, especially if my life continues to go the way that it has for the past couple of years...
This is my exact situation word for word. I started watching videos and looking at all the sick new guns and gear that came out since I got out of paintball around '09/'10 and I was automatically just as obsessed as I was 4 years ago. I love playing but I think I love the aspect of buying new guns and gear more. I've spent hours a day just browsing through Electronic Markers/Gearbag Sales forums.

For me, I think it goes deeper than that. I've never had a very happy or fulfilling life; there's always been things that I've had to go without, and I've always had something dragging me down, no matter what. I don't have a lot of friends, nor did I ever, and the majority of my life has honestly been spent in solitude, and not by choice. As a result, I've got this... hole, you know? I buy things that I think I want because I'm trying to find a way to fill it. But, all it does is make things worse by getting me into trouble with money.

Paintball isn't what it used to be for sure. I remember to being about having a lot of fun with friends. Now every time I go to a field people will ***** and fight with each other over stupid stuff.

I could probably handle all of that drama, but it's the money that I can't handle. As much as I love the sport, it's just so expensive. It'd be different if most leagues and tournaments were still in semi-auto instead of ramping, because you dump so much more paint in ramping than you do in semi. Especially in X-ball format because you're constantly trying to lock down lanes, dumping pod after pod, often times without even hitting anyone.

I knew a wise man who always told me "half the fun is in the want." Doing that research and dreaming about owning it is the fun of it. Once you have that item it loses most of its enjoyment so to speak.

Crazy how serious this thread got. This past week I have decided to quit tournament ball again. I'm not enjoying myself, for now I'll just do rec and maybe quit all together. Due my new work schedule and other stuff going on paintball will just have to take a back seat.

I'm sad to have to go again, and possibly for good this time, but it's just not something that I can afford to do right now, and as such, I don't see the point in keeping this gear that I could be selling to get some money to try and dig myself out of the debt that I've gotten myself into.

My family is pressuring me to sell more than just my paintball gear, but I don't want to do that. My airsoft gear, my drum kit and my computer are things that mean a lot to me, and seeing as I wouldn't get anywhere near what I paid for them and I'd only end up buying them again down the road, there's not much point in my eyes.

****, man. Real life sucks. Take me back to when I was in high school and **** was simpler.

I know the feeling. I've sold stuff only to later buy it again.

I've done that multiple times, mostly with my paintball gear. But, this most recent time that I bought it all back again, it was entirely on impulse. I was looking for a "pick me up" to try and bring some enjoyment back into my life, and it seemed like the right way at the time. I know now that it wasn't, and in the future, I hope I don't make the same mistake again.

I'll always love paintball, but I think the love affair that she and I have shared is over, and needs to stay that way.
