Male Grooming (Hair, Mustache, Beard thread)

What hairstyles and hair products does ST use? Thought it'd be nice to have a thread dedicated to the art of male grooming. Post pics of you hair, hair you'd like to have, beards good looking mustaches. Give tips and advice concerning hair products, pomades, creams and wax's.

Discuss all things manly.

I usually rock a medium/low fade gentleman's part whilst I'm in the military. No beard for now, not for another month.

I mostly use Three Flowers Pomade. It's water soluble and has castor oil, along with other ingredients that prove to be better for your hair.

As far as hair I aspire to have, something like Ricki Hall's (I know, cliche) but he's a good looking god damn man.

So yeah, if you enjoy your hair, and want to share it. Go for it.

Yeah, just gotta look at the Clothing Thread to see your styles. Did you get any inspiration from Ricki Hall for your beard/haircut?

I used Murray's too. ****'s thick as hell. But I recently did some research and found out petrolatum based greases could cause a stunt in hair growth and isn't healthy?

Have you ever tried Three Flowers Brilliantine? It's like a lighter Murray's and smells not like an afro.

Right on. Do you groom your beard at all or are you just letting it grow all mountain beast?

Also, they smell like Murray's. Cos I think it was made for wooly hair.

I wish I could grow sideburns/chops. Mustache/Beard isn't hard to grow, but gotta stay clean shaven for job purposes and such.

I shave either with a DE safety razor, or a straight razor. I would get into all the shaving soaps, blades, brushes, additives (glycerin, types of creams, etc.), but no one would give a ****.

Do you get hair cuts often? This is a grooming thread, so if you stay well groomed you have a say. Hair products, cuts, types of blades you use etc. I'm interested in all of it.

I would give a couple ****s. That's the point of the thread. Recommend products. For me, I just shave with an electric razor, because I break out when I use normal razors. So if you use good products that prevent that, I'd be very interested.

Matty Mullins of Memphis May Fire has a good hair cut. I might cut mine this way when I get out in a month.

Also, like I said, Ricki Hall has awesome hair. He's pretty much a poster boy for the whole "Old school barber/beard/tattoos" look. Idk what you'd call it...

I have concerns for you OP. Hair fetish lol. Well lets see. I stay clean shaven but for now I have medium hair to keep the longer hair look. If I'm not working, I get into using American Crew light hold gel. It's a little more expensive but it leaves your hair looking clean and holds without any hardness. It keeps your hair silky smooth and soft. I prefer an electric razor as well just because they're more comfortable and the Gillette shaving cream. Great stuff.

I don't have problems with breaking out after shaving, generally, but have you ever tried placing hot towels or hot water on your face before shaving to open your pores? Towels work the best, get them damp, throw in microwave until hot but not scalding, and place on face for 3-5 minutes (or until towels get cold). After shaving, splash cold water on your face to close your pours up, and use aftershave if desired.

That's about all I know. Different blades affect skin differently as well. For instance, when I first started shaving with my safety razor I used cheap-o blades. This caused a lot of irritation to my skin, and wasn't pleasant at all. I switched to Feather blades (made in Japan), and it makes all the difference. They last longer as well.

I know some shaving soaps/creams work better for sensitive skin. I don't know of any off the top of my head though. I do suggest using soap instead of creams though because you can alter their consistency as desired. Plus it's like a whole ritual of building up lather.

I've been lazy as **** lately though. I haven't shaved in at least a month and need to get to that. But with a thick beard it takes me like a half hour if not more to shave because I do 4 passes.

I started cutting my hair about four years ago and usually just buzz it all somewhere between a 2 and 4, and clean up the edges. I'm too lazy to fade it. Thought about leaving the top longer and doing some sort of part, but I'm not sure I can pull off the look.

Don't use hair products except for shampoo and conditioner. It stays nice and soft, just the way I like it.

My facial hair just grows in patchy as ****, so I shave that **** regularly. In other words, nothing particularly special about my hair game. Been using Dollar Shave Club products for a few months, and I'm happy with their razors and shaving cream.

And, my legs are hairy as hell but I'm not man enough to do anything with them.
