Army Markers, how are they?

Just wondering, what are the army markers like? I'm referring to the Carver One, Alpha Black Elite, and Project Salvo models. I'm relatively new to paintball but I'm to understand Tippmann makes pretty good markers. Is that the case with these ones?

Thanks ahead of time.

Dont buy a Carver one, the feedneck cant be upgraded to Cyclone.

Othewise they are all very durable and dependable. All of them work off the 98 blowback design. I would get an A5 though. For just a bit more its field-stripable, cyclone is stock and the body design allows it to be made into anything.

seconded...

I have an alpha black, and a carver one, they are essentially a heavier 98... There is nothing wrong with them if you like the look of them, you can depend that they will perform just fine.

I only ever play with my A-5, and I let others borrow the other Tippmanns I have. The alpha black is always the last one picked as it is heavy and bulky.

The quick barrel disconnect on the A-5 plus the cyclone feeder and the fact that it shoots Co2 really well, makes it the obvious choice. I've never put stuff on mine, but you can mod them into just about anything. I like mine bone stock with an Apex.

get a 98c then get it drilled for center feed. would be a very good move.

I've been using a Project Salvo for a while now and I like it. It feels a little heavy due to the extra milsim stuff on it but I haven't had any issues. As the others have said it's 98 c internals so the performance/reliability will be about the same.

I like the project salvo and the new alpha black alot the only problem is with all the 98s is the open bolt so you can still use it in the mud and rain and hellish weather but shots wont be consistent. Couple tips are that you dont have to open the whole gun to lube it just put some near the breach and in the back bolt and your good to go and dont leave your gun cocked or mess around with it that much because you'll eventually have like 200 fps shots and have to get a new spring but all in all great reliable gun

Your best bet would probably be a mechanical X7 Phenom. The bolt engine is more consistent, not as rough on the paint, quieter, and you can still run both Co2 and HPA in the same marker.

I would get an A5, as has been recommended. I've never been too happy with the US Army markers. We use them for MOUT training here in ROTC-land, and I've always wished I could bring my TiPX or a couple 'Cockers and give them a taste of real paintball, but alas I'm stuck using the crappy Alpha Blacks.
They're fine guns, don't get me wrong, but I just don't especially like the roughness and inconsistency.

Get an A5 or an X7 if you must.

They all have the same internals as the 98, the only difference is looks. I do advise you though, do NOT get a carver one if you are looking to make some long term upgrades.

Hope this helped!

I had the first alpha black and loved almost everything about it. It is heavy but im a big guy n didnt bother so much but it wasnt very customizable and the feedneck was a bit too wabbly. Ive also had an a5 and their pretty cool but personally would rly like to have a mech x7. U can ususally pick one up here pretty reasonable

I prefer the A5's to the Army ones. Check out what an A5 can look like with some work. I personally think it looks better than the Army markers. http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.p...4&highlight=a5

My second purchase was a bundle from eBay that had an A5 and an Alpha Black. I honestly preferred the AB to the A5. It was lighter and longer and has had less problems. Being used I guess I have to consider that is a potential for issues but I want to get rid of all 3 of my A5's and try Tiberius but I'm keeping my Alpha because it does it's job.

The Army brand is great. They give you the great internals of the 98c and some really cool exterior looks.

I am looking for a good marker that can be upgraded in the future and I am stuck between the project salvo and the x7. I want an e-grip and cyclone feed for sure. Is the x7 worth the jump?
