Kierkegaard's 200th

Søren Kierkegaard's 200th anniversary is today.
Oxford is hosting some articles for free: http://oxfordjournals.org/subject/.....darticles.html
And the folks at Copenhagen University will stream some live talks online in the following days: http://sk2013.ku.dk/congress/

enjoy!

I liked reading the books he authored, but it has been so long ago. I barely remember any of his quotes.

Lol, I'm sure this is no surprise as I have said it a lot, but I find existentialism interesting. I have spent more time w/ the germans (tillich and bultman) but I certainly have a respect for the man's genius.

I would enjoy in having a discussion about the philosophy of kierkegaard but 1) most philosophy discussions don't go far around here and 2) i will be spending the next 4 days pumping out a 20 pager on Deleuze's transcendental empricism (that still makes me cringe). Perhaps after I finish, i'll give it a go.

I really like Soren's work. How we interact with reality (objectivity) is who we really are. I think I see some Aquinas in his application of this principle to Christianity. Christianity is a religion of free consent. Objective proof or signs would completely destroy that freedom of consent. Something I hadn't considered for most of my life really. But to accept Christian dogma requires a free and thinking mind, much in the manner of Soren's pilgrim. A constant evaluation of that dogma and ultimate submission to the higher authority of the Christian faith.
