Hi Nicky

Your tuning guide seems to be efficiency oriented...

So I have a question for you:

To tune the marker smooth, would you still recommend the SFR at 7?
Is it the best settings no matter what or should we spend time playing with it?

How much worse SFR set to 1 would be efficiency wise?

Nicky T,

In reference to the tuning, the manual has the back SFR at 5 and the front at 7.
Is this just for winter since you are saying for tuning adj it to 7?

Thanks

Hi,

As per the opening sentiment in the tuning guide above, the manual (and featured set-up advice) is more orientated to Winter conditions; hence the revised advice above for warmer conditions.

You now have all of the available information to make an informed decision as to which settings are most applicable to not only the weather conditions but also to setting up your LV1 the way that you want it to perform.

So both front and back flow restrictions should be set on 7? I was reading the manuel and it states 5/7. Just wanna make sure and thank you so much for all the information on setting up a Lv1

You're welcome

All of the info is above. The manual is biased towards colder weather settings. These will still work in warmer weather BUT the advice above will allow you to fine tune this set up further.

i preordered an LV1, this things seems finicky like a spool, with all the settings, and cant dry fire it. What happened to the days when you opened up your ego and took it out, and it was like a work horse?? the LV1 is starting to look tedious now

What is the fixation with dry firing it? If you really need to test it, buy a hand full of reballs.
I can tell you now, the LV1 is a work horse, but these aren't the days of a Tippman 98. Markers are getting more advanced.

I dont think turning the rear SFR to 1 would impact the efficiency much if at all since it would normally be air that is venting out anyway. It will just slow your rate of fire.

Question: if it starts to fall below 270. Should I start at factory settings and retune or can I just turn it up?

You where not supposed to dry fire ANY ego.

You are more than welcome to take it out of the box, and mow faces. It's more adjustable than previous versions but that doesn't mean it won't shoot fantastic stock.

It is like a spool.... In shot quality..

What is great about the LV is the amazing versatility it has in settings - you have dwell, LPR, HPR, SFRs, and rammers to choose from to give you countless ways to set this up for YOUR personal preference. Follow the tune guide provided by Nicky T (on this forum) as your baseline and go from there.

Also, I would say 2 things I have found over my testing -

1. I like the heavier rammer better than the lighter one. I am getting almost a case of paint on a tuned LV with the heavy rammer...absolutely no reason for me to squeeze more efficiency with the lighter rammer as I don't carry near that much paint on my back. The lighter rammer doesn't feel as buttery smooth to me and seems a bit louder (haven't empirically tested that though) - it does get you better efficiency, but are you REALLY carrying more than 2000 rounds?!

2. Turning your dwell DOWN and your rear solenoid flow restrictor UP will give you better efficiency. It will not be as smooth or quiet, but you can get more shots if you put the rear SFR up to 6-8.
I was refering to this phenomena

What is the % shot difference between SFR 1 compare to 7?

very approximately?

So...
Breaking this down barney style..

Dwell

Lowering Dwell: Decreasing values towards 0
- Increases efficiency (Shots per fill)
- Decreases consistency (variations per shot)
- Louder

Raising Dwell: Increasing values away from 0
- Decreases efficiency
- Increases consistency
- Quieter

LPR

Lowering LPR: Screwing clockwise decreases LPR
- Increases Efficiency
- More gentle on paint
- Smoother shot
- Decreases consistency

Raising LPR: Screwing counterclockwise increases LPR
- Increases consistency
- decreases misfires due to valve not fully opening
- decreases efficiency
- less gentle on paint

SFR

- Higher values = faster rate of fire
- Higher values = reduces the smoothness of a shot
- Higher Values = Louder Shot
- Lower Values = lowered rate of fire
- Lower Values = Smoother shot
- Lower Values = Quieter shot

Rear SFR: Controls rammer on the backward stroke
- Higher value - higher efficiency

Front SFR: Controls rammer on forward stroke

Zick3 Rammer

Lighter Rammer
- Increased Efficiency
- Less smooth

Heavier Rammer
- Lower efficiency
- Smoother

Is this backwards? I had the heavy in first and it seemed to be louder and sound more like my old ego.

I'm going to delete that for now until I get a firm okay on that.
I was reading in a bunch of other posts that the heavier one seems to be smoother or something.
