bolt stem/ guide wears out.

Dunno if this has ever happened to u guys but just wanna share a bit about what just happened to my axe.
Anyway I bought it here in used condition with boss bolt installed. Shot amazing after a bit of tuning. I swapped out a shockwave board from my mini for ease of tuning. Took it to several games, cleaned and relubed after play. Now im guessing the prev owner had the boss bolt quite recently because there is a lot of wear on the tip of the bolt guide (very last o-ring area). I didn't think it would cause any problem because so far its been working great with the boss bolt which is made of delrin.

So im getting ready to play tomorrow and aired it up last night to find that it is leaking down the barrel. So I put fresh lube and tried again. Still leaks. So I took apart the noid , cleaned and relubed but the noid is still fairly clean and didn't seem to be the problem.
Thing is if u put your finger and press it against the bolt, u will feel air coming out and put pressure against your finger. So I thought it must be the poppet face or the poppet itself which are cheap to replace.

so I went to my awesome local shop today, told them about the leak and they gave me the poppet face and brand new poppet to try out. None of them solved the leak. So I asked for a new noid but this is why they are awesome: first of, their team is shooting axes, so right of the bat one of them swapped out the bolt guide from one of the display axes. Lo and behold, the leal stopped. He then swapped out the bolt and tried my boss bolt with the new guide, no leak as well. So noid is good, bolt is good but bolt stem bad and have to get a new one.
Good thing its fairly a cheap fix for an integral part of the gun (25bux) They will have to order it from kee since I have the brown earth color. They have black in stock but id rather wait.

So just wanna put this out there just in case you are getting frustrated trying to get your axe/ mini to stop leaking only to find out your bolt guide is messed up.

Did Kee charge you for the replacement part or is your local shop charging you? I've contacted Kee on an occasion and they sent me the parts free of charge.

I had a faulty regulator and leaking poppet. All they asked is my name, address, and phone number. Shipped it out free of charge no questions asked.

I thought about that but the gun has had multiple owners so it would be a fifty fifty chance of getting a free replacement or having to pay kee for the new part or shipping. Like I said these guys are awesome, been in the business for a while and stand by their product and service. I would try to do my part to support them also. That's what made me say, sure go ahead and order it for me.

Ill post pic of the worn out area tonight after work.

Glad to hear you got a good local shop to help. But you definitely could have gotten it for free with just a simple email to Kee. I just got a bolt guide from them no questions asked.

ZHow would Kee know if the Axe had 1 owner or seven ? Kee is awesome and recently sent us a manifold for a gun that was anno'd by ANS then had the bolt hole stripped out (mini) no questions asked. The owner of the mini is the 2nd owner as well.

thanks guys. it's good to know Kee stands by their product and has great cust service. ill be sure to contact them first next time.

So upon further inspection of the bolt guide, i found out what was causing the leak. It was not the bolt guide tip since all it does is just to guide the bolt back and forth. the real culprit is the scratched up poppet channel. i used a flashlight and sure enough i found a significant scratch right where the edge of where the poppet is supposed to rest. some dirt must have found its way there and rubbed against the poppet and the bolt stem body (id), OR i had an imperfect poppet with small enough burrs and over time it eats away at the stem. kinda too tired to post pics but i'll do it soon enough.

Had the same problem with a color accent kit. A brand new bolt guide had a defect in it so small you could Barely see it but big enough to cause a leak. The tolorance is so tight on the popet face and the bolt guide, you have to be careful when you clean it not to shove anything in there that my cause scratches
