Entry Level Woodball?

So played some speedball have a setup for that n all but majority of my buds all prefer the woodball. They like how it last longer seems a little slower pace and they enjoy the tactical aspect.

Question is for those who own a spyder which mr series would be good for entry level woodball? Ideally I'd sell my speedball setup to fund this new project. I saw the 50cal woodball gun for $100 which seems like a great deal but figured I'd get some opinions first before I make a decision.

I appreciate the help PBN!

Whatever gun you have is probably better than what you are planning to buy. You can play woodsball with a speedball gun, there is no rule against it. Personally, I'd stick with the speedball setup and dress the woodsball part.

Out of curiosity, what setup do you currently have?

paintball is paintball. If you want to play at a slower pace, control your self. I'd recommend picking up a pump. The "mil-sim" is looks only, everybody essentially is at the same advantage. I'd stay away from .50 cal, paint is few and far between.

I'd recommend buying a Trracer instead, if you shop smart you can get a great milsim setup for less than $125.

As for the MR series, I'd recommend staying away from it. If you feel you must have one, is suggest an old MR1. My recommendation over that would be the Tippmann/US Army carver one, or another Tippmann. You could buy a setup with any of those options without breaking the bank.

Oh, and don't buy .50 cal, unless it's a 3357 spot master. (paintball revolver)

I currently have a proto matrix 5 with a valken maxtrix hopper and a 4800 hpa tank. Have a velocity jr as a backup hopper too.

Wasn't sure if the mil sim were more accurate than speedball guns. Never thought of pump though anything is a possiblity.

Are you referring to the old MR1 mode or the new 2012 MR100?

Neither, it looks like. On Amazon they are both about $100. Unless he's referring to buying used.

Hate 50 cal.I would rather use a paintball and throw it at somebody then use 50 cal spyder.

eh em... Im a long time spyder fan.. still have my 09 electra and Rs. favorite all time spyders. But i would seriously consider the GOG eNMEy. Spool valve accuracy and semi- for slower pace. but can still shoot pretty fast if need be.. just my opionion.

Thats a good setup for any paintball game, unless your having problems with it,alot better than most people start with
Pumps are a little more acurate than most spool or poppet valve guns because of the closed bolt systems but not noticable by most folks
All guns are relitivly the same as far as acuracy, paint and bore matching makes more of a difference than guns themselves, the key is getting a consitant velocity on any gun,Dye regs are some of the best around and you're using air instead of CO2 so it shouldnt be a problem

Pumps are not more accurate than any other paintball guns, it just forces you to pick better shots therefore increasing YOUR accuracy, not the paintball gun's.
All guns are relatively the same as far as accuracy. Paint and bore matching makes more of a difference than guns themselves as well as getting a consistent velocity on any gun. Dye regs are some of the most expensive around and work just as well (potentially a little bit better) than any other regulator (you're just paying for the brand name).
fixed.

But besides, if you trade your current setup for a woodsball setup, you will be doing the following: Increasing weight, lowering bps, and limiting your ability to play speedball efficiently without another setup.

If you keep your current setup, you can play relaxing games of woodsball and then play on the speedball field without limitations.

I recommend you stick with your setup and pickup a pump to mess around with. Won't put you too far into a hole and you will likely have no regrets.

i agree just keep curent setup and pick up the eNMEy. slap the jr. velocity on it and your good to go for woodsball.

So far the consensus is get a pump or a eNMEy. The mil-sim are for looks but heavier. Don't buy a 50cal and keep my current setup lol

Not too bad this is why I like asking questions.

I would get a good closed bolt design for woods ball play... A cocker would be very good

cockers are classic. still rock my trilogy! some people hate on them but its a still a autococker and shoots great. and built like a tank. i have a low pressure modded 2007 sonix that pull out for slower pace rec play when not using my proto pm7. I myself am going to get the eNMey to replace the sonix.
