Etha GT project

So I've been doing some somewhat simple modifications to my Etha and I thought I'd post them here.

The name is derived from a Gas Through grip, plus Jack Wood likes cars, so the GT was a good fit.

Not finished yet, still need new grips, microline, and a final gas up to test everything out.

Tapped the frame for 10-32 screws, drilled out the OOPS threading, drilled larger holes for socket head clearance, fixed my mistake with JB weld (didn't center clearance holes correctly on either side:bang

Pictures (took with my tablet so they're sorta fuzzy)

Supports a tank solidly

Battery relocation cutout

OOPS with 1/8 NPT tap for microline (as far forward with the fitting as I could go)

Is this all motivated by the AT tube design of the LV1? Is this going to be similar to that? I'd like to see the finish product and how well it does. Keep us updated!

Yeah. I figured I could see how hard it would be to do, replacement Etha frames are cheap enough and I have a POPS so there's not a whole lot of risk.

Well, I need a new OOPS now. Drilled the hole for the fitting too deep the first time, and using JB weld won't fix it. I know what I'm doing once the new one comes in though. Just sort of annoying.

Just an update:

Bought some microline and EgoS/Geo3 grips that are going on this bad boy as well. Have a line on a replacement OOPS from a friend, going to try one more fix with JB Stick (easier to shove in the hole than normal JB weld) and go from there. I'm just trying to avoid filling the entire hole in since I don't want to re-drill/re-thread it, although that is an option.

Question: where is the microline from the reg going to insert on the frame? Into the trigger guard like the LV1?

Yeah. Without redesigning the reg going hose less won't work. Its not a huge deal since its only an inch or so from the rest to the trigger frame.

Was able to get ego11 grips to fit. You can sort of see a acrylic spacer that helps protect the board. Probably going to fill the gaps on with JB weld on top of the spacer to get it element proof.

Love the use of Ego11/Geo 3 grips. Been wanting different grips for my Etha for the longest time. Sad it leaves that gap though. Was it tough to do?

Not at all. I bought 2 screw posts, figured out they were threaded for #8 screws and so I bought two 3/8" (I believe) long pan heads. The only modification I did to the frame was drill a clearance hole for the post and using my Dremel sanding drum to carve out a slight recess on the inside so the base of the post would come closer to the grip and allow the solenoid assembly to clear.

Sounds like a plan!

Finally got this together, OOPS still leaks (damn it) new one should be here soon, need to wait for a buddy to order a POPS.

Anyhow, I don't foresee it changing much from this (sorry for the crappy cell phone photo, still haven't found my digital camera
