Deadlywinds question
So about three years ago I bought a used deadlywinds fibur barrel from a guy and since I've owned it I've noticed it has gotten harder and harder to swab it out if I break a ball. I have tried all kinds of different swabs, from redz to cp to even an exalt barrel maid, but it still doesn't seem to clean it out unless I use a pull through, which still doesn't totally clean it some times. I alway thought that it was my squeegee until recently when I read a few reports of guys having the the same problem that I have had. Unfortunately though I haven't heard anyone address what to do about it. Do I just need together a new barrel? Is this something that happens to carbon fiber over time? Any help would be appreciated.

I cant speak 100% from experience on this one but CF barrels are actually resin and carbon fiber the carbon has excellent tensile strength but very little compressive strength and also it does not hold it form. Thats where the resin comes in typically it is either an epoxy or urethane base. something like the dye CF barrels would be a urethane since structural regidity is not as crucial but a DW fibur will use epoxy for more stiffness. Where this is going is that the epoxy is what the actual bore of the barrel is and its basically plastic so over time it scratches and wears out giving you the problems your having now. In theory if you lined the barrel with epoxy and stuck smooth mandrel down the bore you might be able to "refinish" it but for the amount of work it would involve you would be better off just getting a new one.

Any idea how old it was when it was purchased used?
Send it in to us, to the address here: http://www.deadlywind.com/contact and be sure to include a note with a quick description of the issue and your return address.
If we can determine that the id surface clouding is due to a defect in the layup of that barrel, we will replace it for free. Otherwise, we will get back in contact with you about what other options we can do for you.
