such a bad rep?

Why do Nt's have such a bad rep? I hear all these problems yet I see people buying Nt's left and right. I just don't understand. Anyone care to explain?

I just wanted to know if they are actually worth getting. I don't want to be in the middle of a tournament and have my gun randomly break down.

In the long run, no. They're $800 new. Pick up a used dm12 or even 13 for that price

You get a lot of gun for the price you pay right now. If you're the typical ego owner like Lightning who can't find their way out of a cardboard box, don't bother. It only chops if something causes it to, just like any other gun. Someone said it once before, NTs are markers for adults.

Most of the used NTs are abused and owned by morons. Some may even have mismatched nt10/nt11 parts for all you know.

If you take care of your nt the nt will take care of you. 98% of people who complain or have problems with their nt is bc they dont take care if their marker.

They are a lot more sensitive to poor maintenance or poor settings than other markers. Where a DM may be poorly adjusted or maintained and shoot inconsistently, an NT may blend paint or not shoot at all. And it is very easy to damage an NT solenoid if you don't understand how to set it up.

It's not a bad marker, but it's not very user friendly.

You wish buddy. I prefer my dm13 after all the bad **** I heard about nts. My local dye gold dealer refuses to Cary them. I'd rather have a working gun.
But his question was. Are they reliable? Not really for a tourney, but a day of recball where you have times in between games, you should be good.

I had my nt10 for 3 years never had it go down on my in a tourney once
Played in knee deep soup mud playing snake...not a problem
Played in 32 deg F with ultra evil... Not a problem

There have been some lemons out there but about 95% of problems people complain about are user caused mostly because they don't under stand the operation and maint

But everyone has their opinion

I've never had any problems with my first NT11. I do maintenance on it after every weekend, and if you do that you will have no problems (assuming you can read the manual).
I bought another NT11 used two weeks ago for $350, took it to the field, and it was very inconsistent (+/-10) and produced an odd sound when firing. So I put it away for the day (I do not like teching with goggles on). When I took it apart I found an incorrectly sized O-ring, replaced it, and everything is good.
In short... Problems with the NT are the result of bad ownership. I take great care of my gear, and I often let people use my guns at the field. Every person has complimented my NT, saying it is the best gun they ever shot.

If you're a sheep like Lighting that prefers to draw conclusions based only on speculation, then no. You'll think that every break is caused by the gun and not any of the other many factors surrounding such issues and continue to flame a decent marker.

If you are reasonable person, looking to pick up last years high end for 1/3 the price and have a few minutes to learn about how to take care of it, yes, try it out and see how much you like it yourself. Pretty hard to go wrong with how little you pay for them right now.

Maintenance on an NT is no harder than a DM, there might be a few more O-rings, but that's it. The NT is more prone to malfunction if you neglect the maintenance though. If you do get an NT, just make sure you maintain it (wipe off old lube and put on fresh lube basically).
I'd recommend going used, and if you can find one, get one that was bwinged. If it isn't bwinged, it is still worth it.
If you don't want to keep up with the maintenance and want to stick with dye.. I would go with the PM8/DM9 or DM12 (because I like the look of the giant window). PM8's can be found for $300-350 and are almost exactly the same as the DM9 series, which is still similar to all the other DMs. Performance wise they are all the same. I do get more compliments on the appearance of my PM8 than my DM12 and NT11 though.
