Axe Shootdown

What are some potential causes of shootdown?

Reg looks to be good - gauge hardly moves and resets quickly.

What are some potential areas of the bolt assembly to look at?

Small bolt orings - if they are bad, what symptom would you see?

Large bolt orings?

Poppet oring?

Btw, this particular marker was recently rebuilt using orings from an Oring Monkey kit - anyone ever have trouble with these?

There a several threads about those. I believe they use 012 orings instead of 1.5 x 11mm on the bolt guide. Either use stock orings or boss.

Well ain't that a *****.

They've never addressed the issue?

So what's the fit difference between 012 and 11x1.5? Too loose? Too tight?

This guns kinda odd. Slow shooting its fine. Super consistent. Simply drops off during rapid fire.

Replaced the poppet oring with a factory one and that seemed to help, but only for a game. Then back to the same drop off.

I wish Boss would offer a full rebuild kit, instead of buying the orings individually.

012 is bigger than the stock metric orings. The boss ones fit like they're already broke in and I really can't recommend them enough. (I was a huge skeptic at first.)

Well the bolt is definitely not too tight.

Infact, if you tip the bolt guide forward, the bolt slides right off on its own.

Spring is on the proper way. Pressure is @190. Battery was just swapped (voltage checked). Tank reg is a ninja pro (all shims still in)

Reset dwell. Lube the bolt tip. Drop a couple drops of synthetic gun lube in the asa.

Dwell is stock. Never been adjusted. I hit the Asa with a couple of drops every outing.

When you say line the bolt tip, your talking about the bumper on the end? Wouldn't getting lube in the breach/on the paint be counter productive to accuracy?

Just looked at my oring monkey kit... bolt guide orings are 11x1.5 - not 012 as previously mentioned.

The bolt tip, yes the rubber thing on the tip, needs just a light coat of lube. Oring monkey must've updated his kits. If it's not either of those then it could be your board or noid.

This could be the issue, you should only oil the reg once every 3-4 cases.

It sounds like the bolt guide orings might still be too small. I remember a tech posting that the bolt falling off the guide like that was a sign that the 3 smaller bolt guide orings needed to be replaced.

I had talked to Dan from AKA not long ago about his oring kits. He doesn't offer metric orings because there is cheap no source of reliable sized metric orings. That's a good reason to use factory or Boss orings. I wouldn't be surprised if the Oring Monkey orings were still the cause of the problem.

I'm shooting 2-3 cases per outing.

Ill look to re-swap the small bolt guide orings and see what that does.

Try some boss orings there. I think it'll help your reliability and solve the issues you're having. The noid could also be bad/ need cleaning as well.

Tossed out the oring monkey kit... ordered a full rebuild kit from Boss and the issue is resovled. For sure a tighter bolt-bolt guide fit... my guess is it was allowing premature venting during the forward stroke of the bolt... and not getting proper shot to shot consistency.

I swapped them all, including the regulator piston orings (ordered separately).

While I don't know which one was the culprit, the gun shot like a champ this weekend.

Glad you got it working. Did you use the actual boss orings or just a factory oring kit? I have had great luck with boss bolt guide and actual bolt orings.

Boss orings in it now. Ordered a "player parts kit" from Kee to have in reserve.

+1

Too much oil gummed up my last solenoid something fierce. Kee sent me a new one.

I told ya. The Axes uses odd sized orings. It's best to stick with OEM parts or use something you know will work like the Boss orings.
