Best Budget (<$300) Marker? (eXTCy, A5, Proto Rail)
I just recently got back into paintball after 6 years, and have a buddy that is interested in trying it out. I have no idea what gun to recommend to him other than the Tippman A5 and Proto Rail. I've heard decent things about the GOG eXTCy. We will be playing woods ball until he gets the hang of things and then messing around with air ball. What should I recommend?

Mini or axe. They are under $400 for an axe or under $200 for a mini.

Get something lightly used 06 or 07 that retailed for $1000 back then that came with a completely customizable board.

All the guns you are choosing from are good, but if you plan to try speed ball I would suggest the extcy with blackheart board or the rail. They will both work good in the woods, but can also be programed and work well on a speed ball field.

X3. Having shot most high ends on the market, I feel the Axe is a fantastic gun at any price but it just so happens to be fairly inexpensive. With a lurker bolt they shoot absolutely amazing and are gentle on paint (which will save a lot of heartache in the long run).

Either used axe or Rail. Both shoot good, but I might be picking up an axe because of price and the performance you get for that price.

^^ The performance sells it, but the fantastic lifetime warranty with Kee's second to none customer service affirms it.

Axes are great performance wise but I hate the ergonomics because I like something to wrap my hand around which the axe doesn't really provide. I would suggest holding one first that way you don't spend money on something you don't like although axes are very easy to trade as well around here.

Doesn't the Vanquish have the battery in the rear grip now? I'd like to see a version of the Axe released with something like that.

I believe it does but I haven't read much on the Vanquish really so i can't say for sure but I agree 100%. It would be very interesting to see something that preforms like an axe but is as comfortable to hold as like a Geo.

The oled is in the foregrip. On axes I like the OLED/ board position.
